I500 now OR I550 later ?

I almost bought the SPH I-500 phone a few weeks ago. But before I drop a couple hundred on a phone, I thought I'd do some research. In doing so, I came across this site. I've been 'lurking' in this forum (off & on) for a couple of weeks now, and must say there is a LOT of valuable information on this site and forum. Thank you. 🙂

Since I know that I will be purchasing a PDA phone, should I go ahead and get the I-500 now? After the rebate, it's only gonna run me 450 bucks. Or should I hold off for the I-550? From what I read it looks like that unit will cost close to $700. Plus I have no idea of when it will be available. (There was some discussion on a Mid-August or Novemeber release.)

I have been waiting for this phone for 3 years. I have been using the i300. The i550 has some of the features that are on the i300 that they have left off phones until now (speakerphone and the date time feature w/o turning the phone on). One feature I am hoping for that the i300 has is the ability to select a phone number by using the buttons on the side of the phone. The i500 only can select the default number. If the i550 came w/o a camera I'd opt for that as my work is a little sensative about cameras in the workplace. Bluetooth would be nice. Other than that this phone is perfect... I'd wait.

I was afraid of that answer. 😕

This bings up the real question...How long will I wait? Is this unit coming out in August as some posts state? Or is it coming out in November as other people have stated? Just looking for a timeline, thanks.

Could you post the links for these write-ups? That would be helpful. Thanks!
