alright...i've seen the i-500 in action and it seems to be a pretty solid product for an initial clamshell version of the phone/pda combo from Samsung. the i-550 has a few features that i can appreciate but samsung and sprint are still showing their ignorance of consumer needs. the display on the outside of this phone is a big improvement. however it has two problems that i can see.

1. the camera. i know some will disagree with me here but phone/pda combos will by and large be purchased by people who have a need for both and want a simple, sleek integration of both. the camera is a worthless add on. i say this because those of us who would like to use this phone for our work cannot because many corporations have banned camera phones...

jyworth, I'm also a Mac user (congrats), and I do have an Apple Bluetooth keyboard, and wish that I could find a Bluetooth trackball like my Microsoft or Logitech thumb operated ones. But right now, Bluetooth is simply too insecure for a phone, particularly a PDA phone.

I agree that the Bluetooth committees should get a good security protocol out there, but so far they haven't. As far as I know, they are working on one now.

Also, despite the frustration expressed by those who want one, Bluetooth has not proved to be popular so far. That's why Bluetooth phones are pulled from the market so quickly.

I disagree... I am not working for a corporation, nor does my job give me a cell phone so I am not in the same target group as you. I am a tech gadget freak who wants the ultimate gear. I want a phone just like this... If only Virison had this phone. I want a cell phone that can surf the web(any page, not just pages designed for cell phones) and send/recieve e-mail. I also want a mega pixel camera in a phone and a memory card slot to add memory so I can listen to mp3s, watch clips, play games, transfer files, whatever!!!! I may be part of a small group of people who would want a smart phone with a megapixel camera phone but I just wanted to post this so you know some people are excited 😁

Kenzie -

Can you clarify what you said about browsing the web? As I understand it, the Treo can browse normal pages on any network, so why would this phone be any different?

The Treo, i500, and i550 can ALL browse any web page using Sprint's Vision data service. The issue is that regular webpages need to be re-structured to fit into the small screen without requiring lots of horizontal scrolling. Usability studies have shown that when people need to scroll horizontally AND vertically to see a page, it is very easy for them to get lost (disoriented) within the webpage. As a result, most handheld device browsers automatically re-jigger the page so that it scrolls mostly vertically to see the entire content. Different browser vendors have different approaches, and it's often a matter of taste what works for you. I like the Blazer browser on the i500, but the i550 will have a new browser, I believe. Either way, you...
