Actually, a ton of people can unlock it, most obviously Samsung. There's a bunch of them already unlocked on eBay. I need to unlock mine too, so if anybody can figure out how to unlock it, please let me know. Most of the other samsungs unlock pretty easily, but those methods aren't working so far on this one.

Samsung CANT UNLOCK PHONES they are manufactured for the service providers they are the only ones that can LEGALY unlock a phone the reason they are locked is they sell the phone to you at a disount price to get you into a contract the cost of the phone is recouped that way...the unlock codes are only available through the provider !!

I hate to break it to you, but that is completely not true. You need to find a certified samsung tech to call in to samsung and they will give them the unlock codes. The manufacturers don't care, it's the providers that care about if the phone gets unlocked.

Well, you are choosing not to do so. You should be able to, you just won't. I see no problem with a customer unlocking their phone for world use.

Its not that we choose not to do so ....It's that we have a partnership with the providers they are our main customers it's their phone not ours or yuor to do with what we please..it's kinda like stealing cable ...the cable box belongs to the cable company not you .If you worked in the indusrty you would understand ask the people in Europe why they pay hundreds of pounds for the 49$ phone thats here in the US. Its because their phones are not "locked" TO a provider...the phones in the us are sold at a discounted price to the consumer...you can ask your provider to unlock it and most will 'AT THE END OF YOUR CONTRACT.T-Mobile will after 90 days of a contract .for travlingabroad..but since you are still in a contract they have no fear of you ...

I work in the industry and I got an employee at an AT&T direct store to unlock my Nokia 6620 no questions asked. I'm on a contract, they don't care at that point.

Ok, Here's the scoop on unlocking, Cingular will give you the code if you ask.AT&T will not, weather or not Cingular will now give you the unlock code since the companies have merged, I doubt it. Since the are technically AT&T phones. Nokias are very easy to unlock, goto Nokiafree.org, but don't post and ask "can I have the unlock code for my phone" just look for the unlock tool. This is probably why the guy at the store gave it to the person in the other post. I guarantee if it was any other model they wouldn't and couldn't do it, because AT&T dosen't store the codes. As for a Samsung phone better either pay someone or get a data cable because thats the only way you are gonna get it, same for Sony-Ericcson and most others. Hope that helps!

AT&T will not and does not unlock phones for customers. In or out of contract. If they do then they are breaking AT&T policy. 🤭 I agree that if you are out of contract any carrier should unlock the phone for maybe a small fee. 20.00 or something. I dont think thats to much to ask. But I know of course people will want it for free.

One thing i have to say about samsung is that you guys have the worst warranty program. If it wasn't for the carriers taking back the phones, no one would buy your phones. i once sent it in and you guys took like a month. and it came back unrepaired. I had to send it in again. And guess what. It only took a month and a half this time. Plus, no one could give me a proper answer to what was wrong with my phone. And YES, samsung techs will give you the unlock code

If your want to unlock your Samsung mobile phone from the network lock, you can get network unlock code from
http://www.theunlockarena.com/samsung/rs16wp8/ » at reasonable price. Here they ask you to specify the country name, current network provider and IMEI number of your mobile phone. After specifying these details, they deliver an unlock code through email. Then you can unlock it using code by following the instructions given for your mobile phone from that site itself.
