We'll Never See It

Motorola can just keep announcing new handsets because that is their core competancy as opposed to developing and delivering hardware.

They are beginning to define the true definition of vaporware.

Now that Vodaphone has settled in and given up on acquiring an American GSM carrier, this is the only way to go. They have to see some return upon their investment in Verizon. That means CDMA/GSM 'world' phones. If Motorola won't make them one then someone else certainly will. We will see this phone and others. Count on it.

Megabit... WRONG! We will se it as stated above, Vodofone demands it and wants it and has set an international roaming price of only .99 a minute for VZW customers using the A840 or the new Samsung CDMA/GSM just released yesterday to their Enterprise customers (large corporate customers). This phone will not be for everyone, target customer is the international traveler. If you are only staying in the US and want the same type of phone, get the V710, that way you get to keep the analog usage when you are in the boonies. The CDMA/GSM equipment will not have the AMPS800 (analog) service so getting into the boonies, you will be SOL.

I'm curious where you got the per minute cost for using this phone? I've asked several times from various CSR's and at Int'l Traveler and I've gotten two different answers: $1.99/min and $1.49/min for most countries and $2.49/min for "premium" countries. $.99 is more in line with other carriers (T-Mobile for one) and $1.99/min is outright theft. This is one phone I sure could use but will probably go with the Samsung A790 as it comes out first.

It was an article in CITA that talked about Vodaphone & Verizon partnership & the upcoming CDMA/GSM(Europe) equipment and how Vodophone is looking to increase USA user roaming overseas and the volume approach pricing. They figure thatif per minute charges on Vodophone system is low, USA users will talk more, etc.
