Okay, I placed a message a few days ago. NOW, I was using this phone tonight and sitting still with a perfect signal. About 10 or 15 minutes into the conversation, all of a sudden, it dropped the call. I wasn'tmoving at all, sitting completely still on the sofa. Then I called the person back from the same place and stayed connected for an hour straight. Does anyone else have this problem with their 6100 dropping calls from places that some days (or some hours) they get a great signal and others not??? I am considering getting the Motorola e815, but am worried about the echo that people are complaining about.

weird! i have had this phone for almost 2 weeks now after turning in my E815. it hasn't dropped a single call yet...and I use it a TON, and often while driving from place to place in different towns and states (NJ, NY, PA).

have you tried *228, option #2 recently? have you confirmed you are on the most current software release? have you tried swapping the phone out (maybe you have a bum 6100)?

I have only had 2 calls drop on my VX6100 in the last 2 months now. I have US Cellular and do the star 228 on mine as well! It works fine!

You may want to check the NAM settings on the phone. Menu, 8/settings, 3/system, 3/Auto NAM, Off should be selected. If not selected, highlight it & press ok, then press clr, press 2/Set NAM, and NAM1 should be selected. If not selected, highlight it & press ok.

If you are familiar with the long programming, you may want to make sure that the "NAM1 True IMSI NMSID" is datafilled with "00[10-digit MIN]" rather than "Inactive." It would probably be a good idea to make sure the Foreign SID Reg, Foreign NID Reg, & AMPS Auto-Reg fields are set to "yes" as well, especially if you've noticed your phone going back and forth between home & roam. If you aren't familiar with these settings, have someone at the retail store or an agent go into the s...
