I am wondering which phone is the better one. Either the VX6100 or the VX4500 ?. The phone option or price will not be a determining factor for me, I'm just wondering which one may be the better phone. Thx for the input.

It all depends on where you live and the service Verizon offers. The VX6100 is the newer phone whereas the VX4500 has been out about a year. The VX6100 is tri-mode and the VX4500 is digital only. If you are going to get a VX6100 make sure you don't get one that drops calls alot. The phones were very buggy in the beginning and had lots of problems. If you look at the negative reviews on phonescoop you'll see that people either love the 6100 or absolutely hate it. I know a couple people who have the 4500 and haven't had any problems with them. One last thing if it matters to you: The 4500 comes with a desktop charger which is the big clunky one whereas the 6100 comes with a travel charger.

i have the 6100, and had the 4500.. i am so happy to have the 6100. i get better reception in my home then i did with the 4500. the speaker stays on after you end a call 6100 where as with the 4500, the speaker would turn off after each call. you get an added bonus by having a camera. neither one of the color screens for the phone work well outside in bright sunlight, but that doesn't bother me. and thats my opinion of both phones for you. i hope it helps, good luck and let us know what phone you decide on

I am making the same decision.

But the 6100 is bigger, which bothers me.

Also, seem to be a lot of messages about a vol bug on 6100. Is that gone?

Any idea whether if I wait a week or two, there will be a "new" version of the slightly smaller 4500?

How do battery lives compare?

Had the 4500 for a year, now have the 6100 - both are excellent phones. They both have a good speakerphone, decent reception, and good battery life. I also like the LG user interface much better than Motorola or Samsung.

While you'll probably be happy with either one, my choice between the two would be the 6100, because...

1. It is newer, by almost a full year
2. It is trimode, the 4500 is not
3. It has a camera - no, it will not replace your digital camera, but it is a nice little feature to have
4. I have found the reception on the 6100 to be slightly better than the 4500

When you get either phone, make sure they have updated software on it. The 4500 should have T45VZV04 (Version 04), and the 6100 should have T61VZV02 (Ve...

Version 3 was has now been released. It is said to help some of the dropped call bugs that the 6100 has experienced. Take your phone to your nearest Verizon Wireless communications store to have it updated for free. Although, it might help to look the store locations up at www.verizonwireless.com due to not all of the stores having technicians. Helpful hint: If it says "kisok" there are no techs available to you.

Thx for all of your help. I went with the 6100 and have had for about 2 wks. It works great for me. The speaker phone is good. Battery life is also good. Sound quality, from speaker and ear peace are good. I have not had the dropped call experience that some have had, hopefully will not get it. Now i just have to get a data cable to hook up to pc so can get some real ringtones. The ones loaded on phone are not too impressive.
