After reading all of these reviews I understand that I will need a USB cable in order to do the cool things. But, do I need software on the computer to send songs from my computer to my phone and to edit themes? I am so confused on what it is that I will need.

Here is what you need:

(1) DO NOT buy an ordinary USB cable; instead, buy a DCU-11 with the software (on CD-ROM) enclosed. Best bet is to buy of of EBay. I purchased from a vendor "EveryDaySource", and was pleased with the transaction.

(2) Load their software. There is a readme.txt (or readmenow.txt ... I forget) file that you'll need to read. Those are the instructions you need to get the driver to work.

(3) You'll want to use two programs that come with the software package: Image Editor and File Manager. Image Editor will allow you to take graphic files you have on your PC and "shape" them (width x height) to fit the phone. It has a convenient Zoom feature ... easy and intutive to use. What about songs or sound clips? Can you move them from your computer to the phone?

As far as I know, you can, by using the File Manager. Remember, there is a limit of what you can do if you use MP3 files as ring tones ... that limit is that you can't use Voice Activated Dialing ... but, on the other hand, you may not want to use Voice Activated Dialing 'cause it is a big power drain.

Why is there a limit? Memory space limit or something?

I don't know for sure, but believe it reasonable to assume that it is memory. And I don't know if the SIM card and the internal phone memory are mapped as linear, so that they constitute a seamless pool of memory, or are segmented.

For example, I've seen some phones (not this one) where the memeory is segmented, so that when you add a contact to the phone, you make a choice: phone memory or SIM memory. It is a moot point with me, because my phone directory is very small (28 entries), I've deleted all the "stock" photos that I can (you can't delete all that come with the phone), and have very few "custom" photos.

Good luck!
