I don't know this for 100% sure (99%), but regardless of the fact that ATT and Cingular are together now, the phone is locked to Cingular, and therefore will not work with an ATT SIM unless you unlock it. The only possibility here is that MAYBE the whole delay in this thing coming out could be partially attributed to the phone getting programmed to accept either SIM card?? I HIGHLY doubt that though. 😁

Ok i'm not sure what it means when they say the phone is locked but I won the phone from cinguler got it without a sim card, I am an att customer I took my sim out my old att phone a nokia 3595 and put it in the z500 and yes it does work. At first I couldn't get online but I could receive and get calls, so I went to the site att has to modify your phone from mmode and yippee it works. everything is working so far. I'm so glad I didn't go to cingular to try and get a sim, they wanted to sell me a phone, I didn't think i'd be able to use all the options this phone has using the att network but I can. I love my new phone and so glad I stayed with att. I had to get an mmode plan so I wouldn't be charged those high prices for kb usage but to answ...

If you have a cingular phone z500, or unlocked z500 which if your att sim works it is unlocked. You can come over to cingular without getting a new phone.. just tell them you have a phone for cingular already, all you need is the sim.

The Z500 DOES have PTT. However, Cingular, as of now, does not support the technology. I'm thinking it won't be too, too far off though, they'll have to implement it to compete (Sprint and Verizon support it already). No idea when though.

yea it does have ptt but the dedicated ptt button is being wired to do somthing else..from what i understand from talking to some Cingular reps.. Cingular was going to release it this past summer but slowed the process when motorola started a lawsuit at nextel for the phrase * push to talk *.. moto patented the phrase and nextel took it and started useing it as well as sprint and verizon are both somehow involved in the lawsuit as well.. what makes no sence is moto owns a portion of nextel.. so wtf are they sueing for the other half i guess lol.

just info i heard.. who knows if its true
