Haven't heard about this problem, but I work at a store that sells these things, & I don't really like selling them. I've seen too many quirkey things about them. I would feel guilty if I snookered someone into buying one. The only way I sell one is if someone is just REALLY into the phone from the start (on their own - without any goading or suggestive selling on my part).

You could try Cingular's exchange by mail program (for getting the phone repaired under warranty). Call 800-801-1101.

while the phone does have some problems, it may also be the network as well. Good signal doesn't always mean good call quality. If it happens in different areas than just your home(IE work, traveling in different cities), its the phone. If less than a year old, call the Cingular Exchange by Mail line and they can help you as long as the unit has no physical or liquid damage. If it happens only at home, it's the network. Hope this helps.

I will have to check the phones on my bench for that, but there is a good chance that what has happened is corrosion on the near the mic.

I have about 5000 of these phones that I am repairing at the moment and there is a huge problem with corrosion on the LCD connector on the board and the charge port.

The Mic is located next to the charge port so there is a good chance that you are getting feedback, or it could just be a bad mic.

Anyone with a service shop should be able to fix this. I recommend that you talk the store you got it from, or you can send it out for repair.
