On Friday, my 8000 which I have been using for about a month decided to conjure up a mind of it's own. I was in my home which I get a full five bars of signal (on my LG 3200) And 4 bars on my 8000 well, all of a sudden my 8000 started losing calls which has never happened to me than the problems progressively worsened. I noticed a full 4 bars of signal strength than instantly back down to none than said "searching for signal" than back up to 4 bars than repeated over and over and I could not make a call. My LG3200 had no problem. Well, I called Verizon tec support only to be told that the phone was no good. They also said that maybe my phone was picking up a bad cell tower which could be up to 30 miles away. I told them that my 3200 was per...

One thought, is your 3200 might have been picking up an analog signal and thus still showing signal bars. Where as teh 8000 is digital only. So if there was a redundant analog array your 3200 would have been fine but the 8000 would have flipped out signal wise

I never noticed that the 3200 went into analog I doubt it did. But what your saying does make sense. I am surprised that tec support did not bother to look into the situation further and deemed the 8000 defective. But anyway, they say there were no reported problems in my area so maybe it's safe to say I had a defecftive one.

i believe i know ur problem. I have been reading around and have found that ur lg vx8000 likes to find a tower with EVDO (VCAST) It is trying to reach a tower with EVDO rather than a closer one. It's probibly searchin for the EVDO and when it losses it it goes back to the closer one. There is a way to turn off EVDO on ur phone, if you use VCAST, then im not sure what you should do...if u dont use it...then it should b ok. Talk to ur tech support and tell them wat i told you and see wat they say. and ask them to tell you how to disable EVDO

I went to verizon today and they told me that you could not turn off EVDO. Now i don't know if they were giving me the run around or if they were telling the truth. Plus that guy told me that if was for when i am making a phone call as well as VCAST. I also question if that is true. Please help im so confused. I was under the impersion (and im pretty sure im correct) that EVDO is just high speed internet for the phone not for my acutual phone calls.
