Yes, the stores now have both the 890 and the 8000 in stock. Some have the 8940 too. None are on display yet, but if you have a friend on the staff, he may pull them out from behind the counter and let you see them.

The Audiovox 8940 is in route and should be in hopefully at the same time they launch all three phones on Feb 1.

How do they compare?

Don't get hung up on which one has a better camera and base it only on megapixels. There is more to a good camera than pixel count.

The 8000 has a brighter and larger screen. The pictures, both indoors and outdoors have better color and saturation and generally look better than the 890. But the 8000 is HUGE!! No, it will NOT be comfortable in a pants pocket. The 8000 is one of...

**** Correction ****

Sorry for a couple of errors in my last post but in checking my notes and going over what I wrote (should have done that before I posted it) I made two errors.

1st - The Samsung 890 does NOT have a Speakerphone. I implied it did but it does not.

2nd - I said the 890 was the smallest of the three phones, actually the Audiovox 8940 is the smallest if you check the deminsions in the specs. For some reason, the 890 just felt smaller in my hand but the 8940 did feel small too. On the other hand, no pun intended, the 8000 was HUGE by any standard! But still a nice phone as long as you like BIG phones. Actually if feels and looks larger than it really is by the specs.

Thanks from me also for that fantastic review. Obviously with the experience you have you will be a huge help to all of us next week that don't have as much knowledge with these high tech cell phones. Thanks again. 😁

Just a couple quick things that you didn't mention. I know that all the phones are great and size does matter (to some people), but in the 8000's defense It really is a matter of a few centimeters maybe. I personally always carry my phone in my pocket and to me the 8000 doesn't really feel that much different than my 6000 or 4400 did in my pocket. Another cool feature about the 8000 that you didn't mention, and that I am really liking is the outside controls and not just for the clock or volume. On the 8000 you can actually take a picture or video and control the flash, the brightness, and even view your picture gallery without ever opening the phone. And if that isn't enough you can view incoming text messages also via the outside disp...

Both of those phones highly interest me. With the features that both of them have would be highly advantages in the business that I'm in. I've also made a decision. I can utilize my every two for this. I'm going to try the LG 8000 for fifteen days. Then I'm going to return it and try the 8940 for fifteen days. With Verizon you will not loose your every two if you are within the 15 days. If I discover that I prefer the LG 8000 I will return the 8940 and get that. Any way I'm going to end up with one fantastic phone with the special deal and my $100.00 credit towards a new phone. Trust me. This will work because I've already done my research a number of times with customer service. 😁

Looks like they changes the specs on the 8940, it now says it has an mp3 player. This must have recently been changed, because a few days ago, it didn't say anything about mp3 plaers on the audiovox

The 890 does not have an MP3 player though. At least in the one I tested.

I have to say you must have a different 8000 than we have here in texas, we just got the 890 and 8000 in the store last week, I was excited about the 8000 but after comparing the picture quality on the phones the 890 wins hands down, the 8000 was very blurry my 9900 takes better pictures that the 890.

Actually I agree, the 9900 takes better pictures than any of them. It also has a QVGA screen, the others don't. That's why I said quality pictures depend on a lot more than just pixel count! 🙂

Thanks for verifying that! 😁

Yeah. I like the a890 a lot better then the vx8000. What's the point of the 8000 being so darn big? PERSONALLY, when I think of size I think about wearing it on my belt. I'll be banging it all over the place. It has cool features, VERY similar to the vx7000, but it is just SO BIG! People, you won't actually believe how big it is until you see it. I don't like the rectangular outside LCD screen either. LG could have done a better job in a smaller package. I'm disappointed. The Samsung has ALMOST as many features and perfectly sized. Guess I'll have to wait for the Moto e815 😡

I don't know I checked out the VX8000 and the Samsung today at the local VZW and I must say that I do not like the Samsung looks king of short and squatty. I think that the size of the 8000 is perfect I really like the inside screen being larger, and with larger hands the key pad is is very nice, no more mashing several numbers at once. I compared the 8000 to my current 6100 and the 8000 is only slightly larger mainly because of the square form of the 8000 it is almost the same thickness and same length. I did have my reservations because everyone had said that it was "HUGE" but after seeing and holding it I am really looking forward to getting it Tues.
I think that we need to remember that there is a reason there are so many choices. no o...
