The MPx is canceled. I should know - I broke the news.
It's not a rumor or something I heard from "a source". I was told flat-out by a Motorola head spokesperson - the person who gets paid to speak officially for Motorola. I've even seen the official FAQ sheet (on Motorola letterhead) about *why* it was canceled.
This is not the kind of thing spokespeople say unless it's absolutely true. That would be bad PR, and it's their job to avoid that kind of thing at all costs.
Now, with that said...
Could it be "un-canceled"? In theory, yes, but that kind of thing pretty much never happens in this industry.
Are they working on a new version (successor, update, spin-off... whatever you want to call it) that is on track to be released later? Most likely, yes.
But that is not "the" MPx. The specific device that has been publicly announced as the MPx is officially canceled.
