Facts of MPX Release Strategy

Fact 1 - Motorola isn't stupid - They don't want to mess customers about. Why the delay with the Western release of the MPX then.

my hypothesis is as followed

Fact 2 - The MPX is low on memory and has been slated by every bulletin board from here to kingdom come. Enter a new operating system Microsoft Windows Mobile 2005 (code name Magneto). Currently, Pocket PCs use RAM for both storage and to hold currently running applications. With Magneto, RAM will only be used for running applications. Flash ROM is where all application and file storage will happen.

Fact 3 - Microsoft have had a competitor appear in the email market which they have had no defense against... namely Blackberry. Blackberry pushes emails onto a mobile device. Many...

You almost make the phone sound redeemable. The fact is, as of yet, there are people who OWN the phone and are for the most part agreeing it needs work. Everything you said sounds great...except the 32 mb of ram isn't even enough to RUN programs, and there is constant talk of a required soft reset in order to clear it.

I'm afraid what you've said is too little too late. The phone is deceased.

You fool... it won't be released on the same phone they've been screwing with for the past 2 years.

The form factor (dual clamshell) will remain but everything under the hood will be revamped and optimized for the new OS.

It will probably have at least a 3.0 mega pixel camera as well.

The MPX is dead... Long live the MPX

I honestly hope you're right for a couple of reasons. For one, it would be the best phone ever, and secondly, I don't like being called a fool for nothing, especially by somebody who hasn't even earned the right.

Great, very informative. I hope that this is not one of those things that you "roled out of your bed and woke up". Seriously, what you mention makes tons of sense, I just hope it is similar to what will happen.

I have been dreaming for this type of device for over a year know. When it was announced February of last year I knew I wanted one. What's sad is that when Motorola finally launches the product they will have to compete with products that have much better specs.

I know a couple of guys that work at MOTOPro, they have been really quiet...not even answering my questions -- and they are personal friends. This makes me think that they are hard at work putting something together. For the last 7 months they keep on saying....i...

It could be as simple as the "RAZRBerry" and RAZR v4 are coming down the pipe. Motorola is trying to build customer loyalty. Releasing an obviously troubled product will not accomplish this goal. One other thing, to be competitive with the x-mas phones this year, it will need to be able to do VoIP. (The RAZR v4 is supposed to have Scype. Call NZ by routing your call via your 802.11b/g for only 0.06 a minute.) If the phone came out today, it would last about 3 months in the market before it would be obsolete. It would probably never recover the cost of its production run.
