I was just wondering if anyone had any idea who might be the possible U.S. provider for this phone? 🤣

Definitely Cingular....not sure about T-Mobile. I think I read somewhere on this board that Cingular and Moto had some kind of exclusive arrangement for this phone.
Cingular carries the MPx 220 currently
...
Just out of curiosity, does that mean people on an AT&T plan will also have the ability to get this phone? I mean, the two companies "joined", right? I just hope the people at Cingular won't say "well, you're on an AT&T plan, so no, you can't have it."
...

It shouldn't be a problem....actually if you want to get the phone at a discount you will have to sign a Cingular contract!
But I guess you could buy the phone at retail and keep your AT&T plan.
...
This is incorrect. In order to get this phone you HAVE to move to a Cingular plan.
...
Unless you get it unlocked. 😉
...
Does anyone know for sure that this phone will actually be carried at CIngular?
...
Are you TRYING to kill me!? 😡
Blah! Unlocked is just wayyyy too expensive. It's not fair >.

You can get an unlocked unit for $400.
I don't think I am going to do it but you never know.
If I get one that is unlocked, what do I have to do to bring it up on Cingular?
...
Where did you see this phone for $400? I been watching Ebay auctions going for more than twice that!
I heard there is an issue with the processor and not enough ROM on the test models out (making it slow an not a good multi-tasking unit). But I am considering getting one if the prices and specs are right!

Item number: 5541898090 on Ebay
It is an engineering sample with a Buy it Now price of $400. There were 2 of these yesterday and only 1 at the moment.
Let us know if you buy it.
What carrier are you with?
...
Yeah, I am not sure how legit it is. They dont't have a great seller rating....and not enough pictures to proove it is for real.
Things I found out via surfing the web:
- look for the keypad with the blue ALT button. This is supposed to be the final production keypad (this items doesnt have the ALT buton).
- There are alwyas new ROMs coming out to fix bugs. Currently it does nto take video and the picture of the caller does not appear on the front. a future ROM would fix this. I do not know how one obtains the new ROMs one he has the phone.

Good info....thanks for the research.
All of this is just going to take time to shake out but I could really use a phone like this right now. But I think I am going to wait for an official US release and be safe rather than sorry.
If anyone gets one of these within the next 25 days and tests it, I would really like to read your remarks.
Being patient sucks!
...
No problem.
I was all set to buy yesterday and waited to the last minute. I too want ONE UNIT. Carrying an Ipaq and a 7610 is too much. The design is great on the MPX....but I think I may wait till the US release is out too.
I did see alot of good reviews of the imate Jam -- POWERFUL PROCESSOR and Good memory -- but I want a clam phone. Expansys.com has this product along with good tech forums for them.
I will see you back here once one of us make the JUMP to the MPX.
...
I must disagree with your comment about patience. Sometimes anticipation can be quite invigorating. Plus, it'll make it more worth it when it finally comes out 😉

Usually with an Business account you can get any of the phones on ATT, I have yet to be denied. But they are still in transition too, so we will see. This phone looks like a long time keeper anyways so will probably buy it unlocked anyways.
...
I guess Verizon would be too far fetched...??? 😢
...

This is a GSM phone...so nope. Someone else on here may know if Moto will produce a CDMA version.
...
Oh god, could you imagine what VZW would do to it if they did carry it? 😲
Not to mention they'd probably require a 5 year plan and $800 after a new contract. 🙄
...
It would really suck if Cingular were the exclusive provider based on their lack of support for the features offered on the MPx220. And why Motorola would want to set up a decent product on a network that doesn't support it is beyond me!
...
Well.... if it was a CDMA device and the provider was Verizon they would simply "cripple" all the fuctions of the phone... so either way you've got they same thing!!!!!!!!!
...
You can say that again. I got rid of my MPX 220 because Cingular was unable to assist me with sync problems that I was having. I didn't spend over $400 to not be able to sync my Outlook emails with the phone. That was my main purpose of purchasng the phone. Maybe things will get better and Cingular won't constantly send their customers to call Motorola for any troubleshooting!
...
Don't know as of yet. But it looks like it might be headed Cingulars way.
...
We are testing it now. Nobody has picked this phone up yet.
...

Very interesting.
If Cingular drops the ball on this....I will be one unhappy customer.
...
I would too. I'd rather see it on a CDMA level anyway.
...
I also so an early release on the phone on a site. They wanted $1995.00 for it.
...
IF Vzw is testing it... does that mean there may(will) be a CDMA verison of this phone????
(I could only hope!!!)
...
Assuming you actually work for VZW.
How can you guys be testing it? There's no plan for a CDMA version in the near future.
Besides, if you're testing it now, in 5 years when it does come out for CDMA, you guys will be 2 years away from releasing it!
...
And the next question.... how much of this phone will VZW "crippling"????
...
EXACTLY! After their little v710 cripping scam, I'm already itching to get away. I finally gave up waiting on the patch and took a loss on the phone. Luckily, I still have my Samsung i600. I can't tell you how much I've missed my Windows Mobile phone (synching with Outlook). Only thing I'm missing now is a camera.
I'm hoping that MOVIZON won't actually carry this phone, so I can finally get off this nightmare boat.
...
The phone has passed testing and should be released late march. Check out www.verizonwireless.com where more info is coming soon.
...
March...... hummm.... this might just get me to stay.... that is if they don't "cripple" it and it they let me upgrade from my v710!!!(I only signed a 1 year contract.) 😁

Just have to ask .. what is the deal with VzwTech213? I was verizon for 9 years, now cingular .. because of the phones .. and i posted a question once asking if the razor would ever be released on vz ... and got SLAMMED!!!! it seems EVERYONE on this site is aware that GSM phones cannot be carried by CDMA carriers (vz) but when this person who purports himself to be a verizon tech says they're coming out with it where is everyone to point out that he's just lying and trying to push people to the vz site which has nothing at all backing his claim that that this gsm phone is going to be available on his cdma network?
VzwTech213 .. why are you teling obvious un-truths?

Motorola is probably not going to make this phone for VZW, considering VZW is just now about to get its first CDMA/GSM mixed technology phone, the Moto A840 I believe. Anyway part of the point VZW doesn't have its own GSM network and CDMA counts for a very small portion of the worldwide Cell users, it would semm Motorola has chosen to cater to the larger carriers in the world which happen to be GSM. It would probably not be financially sound for motorola to make a High End phone for the CDMA mkt when the customer base for this mkt is so small compared to the mkt for GSM. Not saying here that all High End phones will be strictly GSM just that some of the really nice phones will be only GSM such as the Nokia 9290, that phone came out ahile ...
