The Most Retarded Thing I've Ever Seen...

Shame on you Motorola! You have come from such an elite phone like the RAZR to this?!? This is a sad thing. I have worked in wireless for quite a while, and this is the MOST INCREDIBLY UGLY DEVICE I'VE EVER SEEN!

I am glad it has bluetooth, GSM and Wi-Fi, but if you are going to put it together in such an ugly looking format weighing a ton compared to today's standards, you might as well just give your life up.

I don't know.. I love the idea and I love the styling - this thing (if it ever comes out) is going to be one hell of a Smartphone.

I worried about battery life, though. I guess we'll see.

It definitely looks like the battery life would suck...who knows?? Any idea when it "might" come out in the US?

As long as the battery can hold enough juice to let the honey in line with you handle it...all's good.

No one is getting their panties in a bunch...this phone weighs over 6.5 ounces, looks to wide, and undoubtedly will unveil the same problems the V600 did when it came out. I am glad Motorola is making an effort, but ...

All personal attacks aside, can you tell me what makes the RAZR elite? Also you stated that it (MPX) is heavy by today's standard? I guess my personal tastes and requirements differ as I did not see one feature outside of the ultra compact design on the RAZR that appealed to me. I will agree to some extent that the keyboard or attempt at a keyboard might not be up to par, but they (Mobile Industry including Motorola) are getting close in terms of a good combo between a PDA/PIM and Cell Phone.

i agree fully, when you look at the RAZR in comparison to the V551 they are almost identical minus the aluminum casing and sleek design and the RAZRs lack of video capture, a 2.5 headset jack and accessories. The RAZR is nothing but a clever way for motorola to make a buck from the fasion crowd by offering the sleek design over the standard clamshell. I anticipate a great turnout for mpx

You're right. The RAZR is less of a phone than the 551 and it's at an exorbitantly high price. The Mpx will do fine with the business crowd that wants something that's a PDA, but still functions and looks like a phone. I know one of my associates is flippin over the Mpx, and he really has no need for a PDA, he just likes the fact that it's a smartphone with a unique form factor. Those are the people that it'll do well with.

As for the price, I seriously doubt any carrier will offer it as high as has been stated on this message board. It'll probably be along the same lines as the treos.

You'd be surprised how many people in this country dig "clever" phones.

P.S. It's "travesty".

Yes, this I know I sell the "clever" phones to them all day, I'm not surprised at all. If a person wants to pay that much money for the phone then that...

The idea I was trying to make was that when a company specially designs a phone to look unique and sell it for far more than its worth you are paying for nothing more than the design that costs them no more to make then the standard size and casing. I'm not here to dictate what phone someone buys, if they like the "cleverness" of the RAZR over the features of the V551 then like I said before they are more than welcome to buy it. but hey I'm not here to argue with you cause I know if I sink to that maturity level you will surely beat me with experience, if you have any professional questions I'll answer them, but any other comments you'll have to direct elsewhere.
No, really...it's travesty. As for people paying more ...

I must admit, the actual look of the phone is a little...eh...yuck. Doesn't look that ergonomically sound. I wouldn't exactly call it "retarded". I mean, the double hinge thing is kind of cool, but I can just see that thing breaking off.

Ok folks, I am sorry that I opened a can of worms. I will give it credit; it will probably sell well among high-end business users, but let's just not EXPECT it to be the perfect device. Motorola doesn't deserve that expectation.

As far as the RAZR is concerned, those of you who think its just a glorified piece of aluminum are in for a rude awakening. Despite its lack of video capture, it has everything else you could possibly want or need at this point including style. Price a problem? Keep on complaining because you know if you could afford it you'd have it. I said the same thing all of you did until the money came rolling in.

Motorola isn't deserving of any sentiment about this particular product until it officially comes out and we get a chance to use it ...

hey guys, my turn for my 2 cents. i learned from experience that you should keep your pda and phone separate until they perfected the idea of a combo. moto's are notorious for horrible battery life and i dont know about now but i know cingular had (has) equally horrible data plans for these devices. and the qwerty keyboard isnt bad, if you're good at typing with your fingernails. oh yea, the RAZR is crap. if u want a compact phone might as well get that miniscule panasonic one.
