Why did you decide on this phone? I picked the mpx220 because it is a windows smartphone and because I got it cheap from e-bay. ($168 US)

I wouldn't use it as an mp3 player solely. There are better and cheaper phones that can do this. Another thing is the MPX220 has a 2.5mm jack for a earphone and it is a mono ear phone. There are convertors that you can buy to change from a 2.5mm to a 3.5mm BUT it will still be mono! (it will only work in one ear)

I read that you can make it go into two ears by not pushing the jack all the way into the plug, but it will still be mono. There are special headphones you can buy from Jabra (http://www.jabra.com) to get stero.

wifi for this phone? wifi are usually for the phones that use SD/MMC cards (...

I have a 220 and a Moto stereo earbud set with an inline mic for receiving calls. It is not mono and does not need a convertor. The quality of the sound is subjective. If you simply want to listen while working out, as I do, it will probably be fine.

Phones running on a full charge will definately last more than 2 hours when using the player...unless the phone might be defective 😛. If you're going to use a phone "soley" for mp3 use, your not going to be using the phones full capabilites as a smartphone. You said you've been looking at other phones, did you check out maybe the W series of Sony Ericsson, or the Moto SLVR? If sound quality is going to be a big issue, then perhaps the SE W800 and the SLVR would be ones to consider...maybe even the Samsung T809 (even though I haven't played w/ it yet). I have the W800 and the W600, and use them when I'm hiking and doing other outdoor activities. What's great about the W's is that they produce deep sounds. Also, they can be stand-alone ...
