mp3 ringtones

For those who choose to use this feature, what is the best way to go about it? The manual says that the mp3s should be saved under storage/application data/sounds...That doesn't leave much space for mp3s. I've got 256 MB SDmini card in, and would rather save the mp3s I use for ringtones on the card. Is this possible? Thanks in advance.

hell, i can't even get the ones that are on the phone to work correctly. the phone keeps teling me that the ringtones are not correct format and will not work correctly. i'm not sure if anything will work as it should. i give up on this phone.

I've found that the MPX220 will pull the main ringtone from the Storage card. I did find that per user/rings don't seem to see the storage card .mp3 files. I did find that many of my MP3's were not "in the correct format", this is a codec issue, so I used Nero Wave Editor to re-encode them using the PowerPack Lame MP3 editor and all of the MP3's now work correctly.

You shouldn't have a problem as long as the contacts are on the phone memory, not the sim memory.
