Motorola MPx220

I've had my mpx220 for only a few days but cannot get it to bluetooth with my bluetooth laptop. I think it has something to do with the com ports. Motorola tells me that it needs com ports 3, 6, or 7 due to my software, but those com ports are already full on my laptop. Does anyone have advice on this or can lead me to software that will open up more than those three?
