Does anyone know how to get the contacts to list alpha by FIRST name?

Hi,

I have my listings in my PDA and Outlook on my PC by first names. Much easier for me to remember.

Is there a way to do that with the MPx220? I looked in options and there is no such function. The reps didn't know much about the telephone and couldn't find anything for that feature.

Any other telephone I have had, I could do this with no problem. All were Sony Ericcsons and I loved them. However, now I want a flip phone with blue tooth, sync capability, don't care about a camera, but they come with it apparently when you have blue tooth and if I am using a regular headset, I don't want to have to use an attachment! My T637 had to have one and it was really annoying. (I have a bad neck and almost always have to use the ...

They are stored on the phone the same way you have them listed under "File As" in Outlook.

That being said, it doesn't make much difference. When you want to dial someone, just press the first few letters of their first OR last name and the phone will find them.

I have them filed as by first name. They aren't showing that way though.

I do love how easily they sync up though. So much easier than the Sony Ericcson!!!!

I want the first name to show first though. I don't remember last names for the most part and want to be able to flip through them.

I would also prefer to go to the letter and then scroll through the letters like I did on my last telephone.

I am thinking of switching to the 551 I think it is. A lot less money.

Not sure about the syncing software though.

Any thoughts on that?

No use for the camera or video. I know they come with it at this high end.

Thanks for the response!

There is a field in each contact named "File as:". This is what it sorts by. You will need to update this field in every contact (to have the first name first) to get it to sort the way you want. Whether you do it on the phone or the PC is up to you.
