🙂 Finally, I got infomation that everyone has been wanting. I can tell you how to attach your Photos to your contacts. I got this information directly from Motorola and it actually works!! Follow these directions: 1. Turn off the phone. 2. Remove the battery. 3. Wait about 10 seconds. 4. Plug the battery back into the phone. 5. Press and hold (at the same time) for a few seconds the on/off key and the action key (the blue one). 6. A confirmation message will appear. 7. When it does, press yes (use the left arrow to press yes). 8. Wait until the phone finishes the process (I wait about 5 min. before pressing the ON button to power back up. I did this because the phone does not tell you when the process is done.). Also, one final comment, Pho...

I'm not sure I understand. What does this procedure actually do?

I, along with others, have been having big problems with taking pictures, putting them into our photo albums, then being able to attach them to our phone contacts. We would be able to see them on photo contact lists but would not be able to see the photo when a contact called. By following this procedure, you will set your phone back to factory default settings. Default settings will reset your phone (don't worry, you will not lose your contact information) and allow you to attach photos to your contacts. 😎

This procedure is known as a "Hard Reset". It's normally only done when your phone is so hosed that you can't get it to work. Backup everything before doing this, as all customizations will be lost.

So in other words, Motorola's inept customer support doesn't really know how to do it, they just took a wild guess and hoped the reset would fix it.

Still, that is better than the answer I got from Motorola about attaching pictures to contacts:

Dear Mr. Booji90,

Thank you for contacting Motorola e-mail support, we appreciate your request.

Thank you very much for your considerations and interest in our products.

Regarding your request, the Motorola MPX220 phone does not have the capability of supporting the Picture ID feature on the external display, since it can only show the picture on the internal one.

I hope that this information is of use to you. We remain at y

I have a theory that the whole photo caller ID had something to do with the settings for the external display? Mine is and has been set on the default image, and the "style" selected is style #2.

I had been playing with the background image and style on external display for the first few days that I got the phone. 😲

I can't place my finger on it. Actually, I'm afraid of messing with anything, 'cause all I know is that it has been working.

You, my friend, are correct, the answer is exactly that. You must turn your external lcd display to style number 2. I am certain of this...

Let me ask this question: When you change external ICD display to style number 2, do you then see the picture when a contact call? Even though I followed the Moto rep "solution" and it did erase my IR contacts, when I put my contacts back in, I was able to see my pictures when a contact called (on both the external and internal screen).

I totally agree that our book and "human support" totally blows. Still, the info that your guy gave you was totally bogus. You can see a contact on the external screen. The hard boot worked but I had to reinput all my infomation. Spcman_spiff says that he has a better solution so you will not lose your info. 👿
