To get new Firmware Model
I recently bought the MPX220 from Best Buy (the .342 firmware model). I called the Cingular Exchange by Mail Number
(1-800-801-1101) and told them that I was told to call this number to get sent a new model with the new firmware (1.3). The woman didn't seem to know what I was talking about at first, but I was insistent, so she looked it up or asked someone and came back and said ok, we can take care of that for you. They're shipping it for free along with pre-paid shipping to send the old phone back.
I'm not sure when Best Buy is getting the new stock of black sticker models.
I love this phone, but I am getting lines with my pictures and the speakerphone is pretty weak. Hopefully the new firmware will fix this. 😁

You got the right rep. Every rep I spoke to said the opposite.

Before I had lines with my pictures, now the camera and some of the other functions won't work and these people at Cingular keep telling me it's Motorola's problem and to get them to fix it. ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️

Are you sure you are going to get the latest model. When I called exchange by mail they agreed to send a replacement but could not promise it would be that latest version, version 1 .3 but rather it would be version .342 that we already have. Did they assure you that it would be this latest version? Thank you

Yes, I talked to them on Saturday and told them that the firmware I had was bad and Moto had released a new firmware replacement. I told them that the people at Best Buy gave me this number to call and get a replacement (even though they didn't :twisted🙂. Anyways, I got the replacement phone yesterday (Monday). It is the new firmware (1.3). I haven't had much time to play with the camera, but I have noticed that I don't have the problem I had with the.342 about the phone not turning off completely when I push the power button.

how about the speakerphone. Any improvement

In my opinion, it's still pretty weak. I've only tried it a few times. I guess my expectations were set a little high. I used to have a Nextel w/ speaker phone and it was LOUD. This speakerphone seems to be full-duplex though (I think) as compared to the Nextel, so I like that.
I guess I need a couple of weeks to decide if I'll really enjoy this phone, because the thrill of having my "new toy" is still outweighing any cons it has right now 😁
