BTW.. it is not up to me to take responsibility for anything. Verizon needs to take responsibility for altering a product in order to cheat customers out of what they paid for.

Did you even *read* any of the pre-release materials? Bluetooth is far too complicated and requires very little to be working for it to be compliant to the Bluetooth spec. Verizon has disabled some of the bluetooth profiles to maximize their profits. They aren't the only folks who are doing this -- they happen to be the most liberal about letting you use your cell phone as a modem among the providers with a good coverage area.

But all of the pre-release materials clearly stated *which* bluetooth profiles would be available -- headsets and dial up networking.

Now, if you can *prove* that Verizon promised OBEX, that's something else. But they've been careful to *not* promise OBEX.

And, sure, some large DC law firm isn't telling you that you are a moron. They will probably either laugh at you behind your back when they realize that there's nothing to build a case around, or, alternatively, be shot down by a bluetooth-cognizant expert witness. Law firms *love* class action lawsuits because they make millions while you get a $2 el cheapo headset and generally contribute to the cost of insurance and doing business in America, so they are not going to be showing you the door right away.

I mean, sure I'm annoyed that the v710 doesn't have the GPS profile and doesn't accept the HUD (keyboard and mice) profile so that I could cary around a bluetooth keyboard to write SMS messages quickly and use it for navigation. It's a missed opportunity, and, in my mind, the complexity of the Bluetooth standard with its variety of profiles, none of which are actually required, is something that could have been avoided with better standard design. Because of this, Bluetooth is not living up to its promise.

I mean, really, your complaints make about as much sense as griping because your USB-equipped printer can't connect directly to your USB-equipped camera and print off of it. Just because *some* Epsons and Cannons can do it in *some* situations doesn't mean that I should file a class-action suit against Epson beceause my particular printer doesn't.

And, really, if you would stop and think about it, you'd realize that if you won a class-action lawsuit against Verizon, the answer would be simple. Verizon would just not offer a phone with *any* Bluetooth functionality. And it would be highly unlikely that Cingular/AT&T would be interested in offering any Bluetooth phones, either. Either that, or they'd figure out how much money, on the average, they weren't making from Pix/Video/Brew/etc. off of you and add that to your bill, month after month, if you wanted to use Bluetooth. For the next few years, until Cingular/AT&T has ubiquitous UMTS coverage in the 800 MHz band, Verizon can do whatever they are legally entitlted to, even if it's not consumer friendly.
