HI! I've been following along for a few months now - first submitted thread.
1st: Thanks to all those providing valuable info & tech. info. - much appreciated!

NOW...I spoke with VZW CS today & in regards to any discount, they said I'm not eligible for NE2 until Feb. 2005 BUT I am eligible for a PHONE UPGRADE (different than what others may be considering an "upgrade" in contract). The only problem is she couldn't give me an exact amount towards that upgrade because they don't have the v710 info. in their system (it is based on the phone cost). I spoke with a very helpful person at RS and she said if I have had my phone for over 2 years I should get a $200 credit for an upgrade. Unsure about this?!? 🙄

NEXT...From this forum S...

I called about the Customer Loyalty credit yesterday. The credit is offered to you at a particular time chosen by VZW, you can't ask for it. It is designed for customers who are close to the expiration date of their contract, and VZW offers it to them so that they renew. Since most of us will renew when we get V710 we won't get that $30. I am going to still mention it to the Sales Person when I go and purchase the phone. But according to the VZW CS it's offered at the appropriate time and it is not an offer that can be requested.

Now, I have had my phone for 2 years and the Ne2 gives me the $100 credit. I never heard about the $200 Phone upgrade. I would be interested in hearing more about that. I think the T720 came out 2 years ago....

Thank you for your info. You're right, doesn't hurt to ask for the discount anyway!
As for the phone upgrade $ - I've had my phone for over two years and didn't use my NE2 last year (from what I remember). The amount of $$ off the phone for the upgrade is based on the phone cost - I believe, retail. SO you should be better off with NE2.
ALSO...I called to check the previous info. I received and this very nice CS rep. said I AM eligible for NE2 as of this past May 😁 . I told her I was going to go to RS since I wasn't going to get the NE2 discount - she explained I would be eligible for the phone at promo. cost -NE2 credit -any MIR available. Unfortunately she didn't have the V710 cost so I couldn't get specific info. -
I know previou...

Here is what I have found out:

v710 costs $519 retail
2 yr subscription price (even for existing customers) - $249
"New Every Two" discount - $100

So if you are a current customer...
who signs up for 2 more years...
and is eligible for NE2...

your cost would be a total of $149 ($249 minus $100).

Hope this helps.

Steve

P.S. This was from a VZW rep I spoke with on *611 last night.

I knwo what you mean abut the confusion. I called again today after I saw your post. And there is a Phone UPgrade credit, but the guy told me it is less than NE2. They would give you whatever the promotional rate is, plus a $30-40 credit (that was an estimate I guess the actual credit is discretionary). But he did say NE2 is the better offer, or is the best offer they have.

NE2 does expire. I know I qualify Aug 2, but after 3-4 months the $100 credit expires.

I hope this helps.

Thanks HolaMoto, Sgoldwa & SamK for all of the info.

Guess I'll have to call again to see if I get a different answer (although I like my last one the best...) & just hope my NE2 credit doesn't expire before the phone is here!
I'll keep you posted on any other info. I may get. Good luck to all....
Hopefully we will all be trading phone tricks & tech. info. within a week or two - I know Aug. 11th has been posted, but one can hope....I have a LG510 in 2 pieces for almost two months now & activated an antique phone to get me through! 😳

I am a Verizon Wireless employee out of Florida. Used to work out of Chicago area. This is how it works.

Loyalty Credit is usually a credit put on your bill for a loyal customer who is nearing their contract end date. Do Not take this. You want to wait for the New Every Two credit. If you take this you will be added on another contract at that time.

New Every 2 works like this. Once you are within 2 months of your original contract end date, you can upgrade with the New Every 2 price. I mean like this... say you signed up September of 2002. You would be eligible for NE2 price as of July 2004.

New every two works for $100 of the 2 yr price of the phone when you resign for 2 years. So say for instance like the LG 7000 right now. $24...

Thanks ReckerTA - appreciate the info.

Not sure if you saw my follow up thread, but when I called CS back for clarification, this CS said I am eligible for the NE2 (why the first one said no?? Don't know!), so hopefully the phone will be affordable if her info is accurate. I'm looking for my contract paperwork to back it up.
Previous threads by others had said we would only be credited the difference of the $100-any rebate (therefore totaling $100). So this is good news, makes it even more enticing!
Hope you reap the benefits of the sales of the v710~ extra cash is always a good thing! Thanks again...

Yes, if you are out of contract that's probably what it is. That's what the rep told me, its an insentive to keep you onboard with them. Also, did you qualify for NE2 when you got the first $30 customer loyalty? I wonder since I do qualify for NE@ if they won't allow me to get a loyalty discount. But as I said -- come the day I go to get the phone I will certainly work the loyalty angle as well. It won't hurt, plus I would get the phone for $119 if they do give it to me.

I don't know if you can get the NE2 with the $30 customer loyalty credit because I signed a 1 year contract in January, 2003 so I wasn't eligle for NE2.
