Does anyone know if, when we connect to the web or email using this phone, we are charged for normal airtime minutes - or do we pay for a special plan?

As with any Verizon cell phone and plan you have to have the web added to your plan. Yes, you do loose minutes when surfing the web or checking e-mail....now if you have a plan that has unlimited nights and weekeds if you surf the web or check e-mail at those times, no you are not charged, as it is unlimited during those times. I hope this answers your question.

If I understand the question correctly, no, you won't have to have anything additional added to your plan. It will only use minutes. I use a T68i with Bluetooth on my T-Mobile account and when I connect my Ipaq to it with the Bluetooth feature, its the same as if you ran a cable to the phone. I'm only using the phone as a modem, so it only uses minutes. Its pretty slow but effective.
