v710 will ring with Bluetooth HS820 headset turned on!!

It has been reported here that the v710 does not give user option of having phone ring on incoming calls. This is not true. Default is to have incoming calls routed to the handfree device automatically. This setting can be changed by going to SETTINGS > CAR SETTINGS > AUTO HANDFREE and changing default from ON to OFF. This stops the automatic routing of incoming calls to the handsfree device without phone ringing. I prefer the OFF setting cause I can now leave the HS820 turned on and with an incoming call just pick it up and press the main button once and I have the call on the headset.

Did you turn the AUTO HANDSFREE option to "OFF" and reboot the phone (turn off and then turn it back on)? It works just fine on my phone.

Rebooted and still no external ring; stil beeping. Who knows, it apears that all of the 710's are different. At least I don't have the handset earpiece volume problem.

I think samkatz is obviously right about the car settings: It is for cars equipped with BT.

It doesn't work for me either. Even after reboot with it off , the HS820 still beeps and the phone doesn't ring.

Ouch!!!!! ☹️

1) Didnt work for me either

2) Grrrr (moto!) Then, no matter what I did, it wouldn't even ring in the HS820 earpiece anymore...!!!!

Power cycles did not help.

R&R Battery did not help.

Changing ringstyles did not help.

What DID finally work was changing the ringtone on the currently selected ring profile, then reassigning it back....

[And for the record, NO - I am NOT implying that the original poster had any blame in this....]

Just thought someone else might bump into this bug with the BT headset ring.

And another one for-the-record.... tried to reproduce this & was unable. Now this leads me to wonder if the headset ring-sound had fallen over & died for some other reason BEFORE I tried this setting.

So, what's the fricken deal with this problem? Is a Firmware update going to allow both to ring or do we need to flash our phones with a different model's firmware? How is this gonna get fixed because it's absolutely ridiculous that the hs rings and the phone doesn't >(

I spoke to a high level up verizon rep, and he explaned to me that it is much like plugging a headset into a stereo unit. It voids the system from going into the speakers, and redirects it into the headset.

I just brought my v710 last week (from VZW) with the HS820 and I change the settings exactly as hdbender said and it worked for me......

Are you saying that you have the HS820 on, in standby mode and your phone is ringing and your headset is not beeping? Then when you press the HS820's button once you get the call through the HS820?

Anybody else get this to work?

The headset cannot be conected, it has to be dropped from the v710. then whn fon rings, u can just tap the headset and call wl auto be trans to headset. I have a shortcut to the BT on the v710

I just got the Bluetreck G2, which is great.
Changing the AUTO HANDFREE default from ON to OFF does not let it ring on the v710. They may need to fix this in a software update. We should all contact verizon. Let them put the pressure on Motorola.
If you set the phone on Vibe&Ring, at least you can feel the vibe a little.
