Personally, I do like this phone; however, I would not recommend it for a teenager. It really needs very gentle treatment as it is not very sturdy. This is my second one (had to warranty exchange the first through Cingular.) My first phone had a short with the microphone. This phone will sometimes just basically shut off...the screen will go black and the phone is non-responsive. This requires taking the battery out and reinserting it. My father cleaned the contacts on the battery with an old toothbrush, and it stopped doing that for quite a while, but now is starting to do it again. My teenage daughter also has one of these phones, but she is very careful with it. I refused to buy one for my teenage son, as I know he will kill it very quickly. This phone cannot take being dropped, it WILL die if you do. If your daughter can be very careful with this phone, and treat it like it is delicate, she will probably like it (just clean that battery.) I really like the speakerphone, however the speaker is on the backside of the phone, so if you're having a handsfree conversation, you may not be able to hear the other person very well. I love the ability to download mp3 files onto the phone to use as ringtones (use 30 second long clips max.) You can download a free trial of mobiledit and use a mini usb cable to hook to your computer. I also bought a prettier faceplate from yescomusa, which everyone comments on, and keeps the phone from showing scratches on it. Just be aware, if you do this, you may void the warranty.
If you are looking for a sturdy phone, with a speakerphone, that can take LOTS of abuse, my son as the Nokia 3200, and he hasn't killed it yet, although he seems to be trying very hard! As for me, I got my phone for free, and I do like it. Just remember, you usually get what you pay for! Hope this helps!
