Cingular V180 Limit on Voice Acivated Dialing Entries

I am on my third V180 (in the last week). The first two had defects. But all three have been limited to five voice activated dialing entries. How many voice activated calling entries should I be able to set up? I called Motorola and at first was told that it was limited only by memory, should be "20 to 40 or more". Yet I can do only five, can add the sixth but it is erased after the phone is turned on/off. Consistently. The report on available memory says I have nearly all memory free. I am storing these to the phone, not the SIM chip. Please help ASAP, 5 entries will just not cut it. Are others seeing this limitation? Or do we just have a bad batch of phones in NC?

Could you elaborate for me on the problems you had with your first two? I also had a problem with my first one and want to compare notes. Thanks!

Dequardo,

The first one would power off, consistently, when changing ringtones. It was always at the same ringtone in the list, one of the musical ones. The second one had a cosmetic flaw, the rubber seal at the top of the phone was loose.

I have contacted Motorola and they indicate that the limit is 5 voice tags in the address book. They also indicated it was limited by memory, but with 1.5M of memory, I think they just allocated a tiny amount to voice tags. My gut feel is that Cingular wanted that, so they can upsell you to their $4.99 a month voice dialing service.

Some other things I have noticed about the phone:

* it scratches very easily
* not as light and compact as my Moto V66
* the speakerphone is excellent
* I seem...

Thanks!

I've not run into the ringtone related problem-yet.

I do have some noise from the rubber seal. Will try a home remedy there.

I place a PDA screen protector over the front black plastic piece. Looks good and will prevent scratches.

My first one froze up locking up the external display and having the inside screen blank.

Second one good so far (12 hours) :-)

i was surprised when i tried to add a voice tag and it said there wasn't room for anymore, i think it was around the 5th one as well. i agree that seems pretty stingy!

Also, I noticed that my handsfree mic does not have a send/on/off button..so I guess this voice dial will not work with my mic. I tried different buttons on the phone and speaking the entry, but it does not work. I can only find earbuds with the line switch.
