Cingular getting it next week!

I went and asked one of the local Cingular stores when they would be getting either the 6620 or 6230 in... And he said, "that they would be getting the 66's in next week." He didn't say anything about the 6230, tho.

I am so excited... he said that I should reserve one now, because they are going fast. 🙂

I am in Milwaukee Wisconsin... so the IL/WI area. I am going to my other local cingular guy, who is the guy I will actually buy on from... tomarrow. I will ask him about prices, tho I heard that with a new contract it will be $199 (somewhere on hofo)

The 6230 is supposed to be $150 after rebates. It is taking a little longer than anyone expected. But, I hope that the 6230 delay dosn't affect cingular offering the 6620 (Cingular was supposed to have the 6230 before the 6620)

bought this phone from AT&T on Sunday, played with it today, taking it back to AT&T today. Paid $469 + tax. DEFINITELY worth it. taking it back to wait for Cingular to get it. It's difficult to unlock. Will most definitely buy it as soon as Cingular gets it in.

Hmm...I wonder why you payed so much for this phone. I bought it from ATT on Saturday. I payed 399 and then theres a $100 mail-in rebate coming too. So it was actually 299. I dont mind haveing paid that much because this phone is awesome. Theres nothing that i dont like about it.

cause I'm on Cingular. Had to pay retail. Sucks. I took it back when I couldn't unlock it, and am getting it from a friend online for $410 unbranded and unlocked. Much better.

rcadden, why wouldn't you sign up with AT&T and get it thru Amazon for $150 after rebate? Is it because of the service quality in your area, Cingular's rollover minutes or something else? Currently, I am pondering the same question trying to figure out if it makes sense to wait for Cingular to get it or sign up with AT&T and get it now. The service quality in my area (NYC) seems to be roughly the same...

Actually, I thought about that. But with rollover, and MEdiaworks (1500 SMS, 200MMS, and unlimited GPRS, $20) AT&T just doesn't cut it. AT&Ts got a nw unlimited EDGE package, $25, plus $7.99 for 300 SMS (granted, they only charge for outgoing, as opposed to Cingular who charges incoming and outgoing, but that's till not very much) That's over $30 and still no MMS. It's going to be hard for another carrier to beat Cingular's MEdiaWorks package.

Just so you know... Cingular sales people are not "supposed" to sell you a mEdia package if you are going to be using it on a symbian phone. So... I suggest that you get the mEdia package before hand, or just hoping that the sales person is nice/dosn't know any better.

*I am asuming you are planning on using the media package w/ a 6620*

hmm why doesnt cingular let you get the media works on a symbian phone? and im tired of waiting for the 6230 to come to cingular, i think i might hold out for this phone, because i played with one today, and i was like whoa, the screen is amazing, and big, and ugh i dont think i can wait any longer, maybe my parents will give me an early birthday present lol. =D

It is because you can browse they "regular" internet. And, you are not restricted to wap sites. I think that it costs them more money when you browse the "regular" internet. So... all this being true, I think that they want you to purchase a data connect plan...even if your not tethering.

Yeah it's probably because like you said, you're browsing regular web sites, and they don't want you to be able to take advantage of their unlimited. *Woops* 🙂 Which is gay. It's not like it costs them that much. And plus, if Americans are ever going to embrace wireless data the way they should (minutes will be a commodity soon) then these unlimited plans are going to be the way to go. I understand that the carriers must make money, but it's hard to get osmeone to use alot of wireless data when you charge them for a ringtone, say, and then also charge them for the size of the ringtone that they had to download. It's kinda crappy, like charging for incoming AND outgoing text messages.....
