Nokia 6620
mp3 as ringtones???
I was told this phone could play mp3s as ringtones and mine will not but my friends will. his is about 1 yr old and I just got mine so is there a fix for this?

no this phone does not let you use mp3s as ringtones. The 6230 and the 6682 do though.

Yes the 6620 is capable of playing Mp3s as ringtones.
Whats weird is that it will only play on the older firmware. I have 2 6620s (one with the old firmware, and one with the new). And I am able to set mp3s with the older version firmware
Check your firmware version, then check your friends. I bet his is 2.14.1 whereas yours is the latest version (cant remember the number)

I have the latest (I belive) generic firmware, and MP3's play as ringtones fine. My firmware is V4.221 25-11-04 NHL - 12. See if you can get it flashed to that verison and you should be able to set any MP3, MID or AAC to a ringtone.

After saving the mp3,midi, amr, or aac to your sound files, open the file and let it begin to play. Stop the song, and click options, "save as ringtone" should be 2nd selection down.
