Does analog roam work?

I had a customer with a battery issue. I told the gentleman that when the phone's out of range it'll use more power to switch over to analog. He told me it didn't switch over when his friend's older motorola did. I couldn't find the option where it lists "analog only" on the phone to test the signal.

Has anyone else have a similar issue with the phone? Or am I just looking in the wrong settings?

According to Verizon Wireless, this phone is digital (doesn't have roaming capabilities). I find this odd, since technical stats seem to indicate otherwise, but that might answer your question

you can still roam, but not on analog. The phone offers no anaolog service, digital only but there are some markets where you could get digital roaming.
