LG VX-3200
I am NOT a computer idiot, but trying to connect this phone to the PC is making me into one.
I got the cable on-line -- actually I've got two cables because the first company advertised the USB-to-Serial cable but shipped a straight USB cable, so I had to get another cable, this one was really is the USB-to-Serial cable.
Both cables work somewhat: the straight USB cable charges the phone battery and causes the PC to see the phone (but it sees it as an unrecognized USB device); the USB-to-Serial cable lets some software connect to the phone, but it happens to be the least useful software.
I have the current version of bitpim but it can't find the phone at all (it does find the serial connection provided by the USB-to-Serial cable).
I tried handset manager, but it doesn't find the phone either.
I've got the verizon branded phonebook software, which does connect to the phone and can download and upload the phonebook. But this software has known problems with how it handles the phonebook data, it has a terrible user interface, and it ONLY does phonebook (and not very well)
I'd really like to be able to upload ringtones and wallpaper (I want to get a plain background for the main screen so my old eyes can read the screen - I hate all the busy wallpaper vzw loads).
