Just talked to verizon

Called asking about my new every two to make sure I wouldn't loose it if I went out of contract. BTW it stays for 6 months after your contract ends.

As long as I had her on the phone, I started asking about camera phones. 😁 The CS rep told me wait a little while, in about 30 days new camera phones will be out. She said she couldn't tell me which ones, so I asked.. Motorola? LG? She gave in and told me Motos are still in testing (710 and 810), and LG 7000 is coming in less than 30 days, they are just "waiting". She looked it up and it showed AMPS so she said unless they change something it will be the tri-mode variant vx7000a as listed on the info page.

Not saying anything, just passing on the conversation to you all. She was *very* ...

I just put a call in to Verizon and it looks like I am going to be looking for a new carrier. My NE2 expires at the end of this month because I am out of contract. I was planning on getting a new contract with a new phone, but none of the new phones are out yet. When I asked if perhaps they could extend my NE2 for a couple of more months, after conferring with his supervisor, my rep came bac and told me there was nothing they could do. After being with Verizon for 10 years, I will be leaving unless one of the new phones comes out by the end of May. I think that is really bad business on Verizon's part, but I guess they don't care about keeping long-term customers. I have no contract to keep me, I am going to lose my NE2 phone - what's to kee...

Wow, I didn't realize the NE2 expired! What's the possibility you get a phone, any phone, and keep returning it after 14 days to keep "extending" the NE2?

Obviously, they don't intend for the NE2 program to be a point to retain customers, only to get you to go for the longer contract initially.

I have been waiting to renew my contract along with a new phone - why should I sign a new contract if I don't like any of the phones already out AND I am going to lose the NE2 anyway! Right? So, even if the NE2 wasn't created to retain customers, if I am going to lose it, I am absolutely not going to sign any contract much less a longer one.

I think they would catch on if every 14 days for the next three? months I keep returning phones, don't you.

Yup, I think they would and I'd tell them what I was doing, too. Maybe they'd bite the bullet and give you the credit.

OTOH, I just checked the V710 forum where there were some messages about NE2. There was no indication the program had an expiration. When I asked them a few weeks ago about the program (to confirm I am eligible as my contract expired some months ago) they said I was eligible and never said a word about it going away.

Weird.

Yes, I had been in the Verizon store in my area twice plus talked with someone on the phone and no one ever said my NE2 would go away, but I read somewhere on the phonescoop forums (can't find it again, but I just read it!!) that if you are no longer under contract you have six months after you are eligible for a NE2 to get a new phone. That kind of shocked me, so I ...

Well that just sucks. I've been a long time customer and enjoy their coverage around the US. I'd hate to have to bail over this issue but you gotta make a stand somewhere I guess.

I have found that writing to the address listed somewhere on the Verizon Wireless website actually gets results. We wrote a letter over the poor treatment we received at our local store and pretty much got taken care of. Kind of a hassle but in the end it was worth the trouble. You might try that route, or just go ahead and get a super on the phone and cancel your service with him/her - see if they can do something.

I better check my NE2 and then decide what phone I want to hold out for. I'd love to have the -7000 if it comes out first.

Good luck!

As far as phones go, the 7000 would be fine, except I really wanted a speakerphone. My ideal would be the 8000 or the v710, but hey if the 7000 were to come out soon, I would definitely take it.

I have 2 ideas for you, first: did you try calling vzw customer service (611) and ask them about extending your NE2 or are have you only been dealing with in store reps that can;t really help in that matter?

Second and if all else fails, stay with your current plan until a new phone comes out, then switch to another company like t-mobile and port your number cancelling your vzw service without breaking contract. Keep the other service for like 3 or 4 days than go back and start up a whole new contract with VZW getting a new phone (that you want) at the promotion price still keeping your number, not paying full retail value for phone, and not paying any cancellation fees with the other service provider given that you switch back to vzw w...

My NewEvery2 was up in Nov 03. There was no cam
phones out, so I waited to use it when the
VX6000 came out in July. I had the phone but
was really buggy so I returned it for another
VX6000. It had the same SW problems, so I took
it back for a refund/return. They but the NE2
back on my account to use at a later time,
which they said would never expire. Keep in
mind I had to sign another 2-year contract to
use my $100 NE2 in the first place.
As of now I'm waiting for a CDM9900 or VX7000
to come out so I can use it.

Yeah I totally agree with you-VZW should do what they can to keep you as a customer. I do remember however reading somewhgere on the forum also that the NE2 did not expire. With that the next option you have is to just wait for something to come out, and stroll right into the store like you had no idea that your "NE2 had an expiration". You could make a mini scene and request a manager and all, then they can go into the computer-check how long ago you first signed up-see that you have a valid argument and then maybe credit you your NE2. -Good luck

The six month expiration is a new policy that just recently went into effect. Since you signed into your NE2 program over two years ago (if your contract expired in January), you are 'grandfathered' into the clause that lets you keep your NE2 until you use it. Regardless, I don't know any sales representative that would let you walk from a new phone and contract over such a trivial policy, especially since the account would show you did qualify. Money in their pocket and a happy customer - who would turn that down? I am quite certain that you will get you credit with no difficulty.

My goodness. Who said the New Every Two expires? That sounds like a bad scare tactic. I assure you it does not. As long as one fulfils a Two Year Contract Agreement and signs up and remains on a $34.99 or higher rate plan. then one qualifies.

The NE 2 Credit DOES expire if not used within 6 months after your contract end date. If you work for VZW, you should read the M&P for reference.

No customer will ever be denied it in my store. Think about what you are saying. No manager in his right mind would turn away a customer to have them spread the bad word like the person who initiated this post is doing. No matter what the M&P says anyone fulfilling the terms would either get the $100 credit under the NE2 terms or per manager's discretion.

enough already; before you make a statement, check your facts 😛 ; I'm reading in "infomanager" right now; the NE2 does expire 6 months after the date that you become eligible. HOWEVER this is not strictly followed. It is up to the discretion of the store manager or the cust service rep you speak to.

Figure I will throw one in. Different regions may have different requirements but my info says NE2 does not expire if you signed b/f Nov. 25 of 02 and does expire after six months for anyone in the program after Nov. 25 02. Again, different regions may have different rules.

My new every two was up back in JANUARAY of 2004. I just got my new phone last week. You do not have to do it on the day of your two year contract. Just keep paying your bill on time and dont go there and when a phone comes out that you want go and tell them you want the phone and a new 2 year contract. it is that simple. Neither stores or *611 had a problem with me at all.. NOT AT ALL. They wont make a a stink of it if you dont. I waited 5 months to get my new phone and new contract.

Yes, but the limit is SIX months - if you had waited a couple of more months, you may NOT have been able to get your NE2.

What part of the U.S. do you live in? I work for Verizon and I have never heard of NE2 having a time limit. As long as you have finished your first two year contract with a plan of $35 or higher, and are resigning a new two year contract you should get the $100 credit.

I'm a little confused.. I work at VZW and I have never heard of this 6 month expiration date so I checked our national methods and procedure and it does not state there is any expiration date... So if outnational policy states there is no expiration date I'm not sure why you would be told this by a sup. I am sure if you attempted to use your $100 credit after the 6 months you would still be able to.. Good Luck!

I have been with verizon as an employee for 4 years. I have never enforced the expiration of the NE2. In fact, I don't ever recall hearing any co-worker that has. I just read the entire policy and procedures for NE2 and at no point does it mention an expiration date. Visit any retail location and you will walk out with new equipment and received the NE2 discount

first off, you should know damn well that by working for the company you wont recieve the new every 2 promo. (common sence) second off, you should really check up on things before you speak because it make verizon wireless look bad... warehouse just purchased 13,820 lg-vx7000 phones for the southern california area. And it is supposed to launch on june 15, but may be pushed back a week or two. Oh by the way i do work for verizon wireless and i appoligize for "AMJK 03" for speaking poorly and not representing well.

As you said yourself VZWCHANTEZ that the purchase of the 7000 was for the California area. I'm in the MW and at this point there is still no talk of a near future release date. Each market is different. Based on the orginal note I was replying to the customer would qualify for NE2 in our market, if the customer was clear on where they stand with their account. Being RUDE really isn't neccessary and neither is cursing.

Cust becomes eligible for 100 credit 22 months after they first sign up on a 2 year contract if they haven't recieved a discount to equipment during that 22 months..

According to the m&p for my area New Every Two Expires after 28 months.

However, I, along with every cust serv rep I know, will honor the new every two after the 28 month period with 1 exception.

If you call up and are rude and screaming and don't let me help you. I'm not going to help you. I'll stick to the strict letter of policy and tell you no new 2.

So for all you VZW customers out there. Be nice to me, please. I'm a real person and I really do want to help you.
