How do I change banner?

There is an option to change banner on the outter display. Does anyone know why it doesn't work? Why then is this option given?

I got my name put on my front screen. you got to take it to a verizon store and there flash the phone for u and disable the verizon wireless logo off the front and off the main screen then u can put ur name on the outside screen. A bit of advise if u get this done dont do that *228 number to upgrade ur service capabilities cuz it will delete ur name and bring the verizon logo back it happen to me. hope that helps! have a nice day!!

Aaaah, I couldn't wait any longer. So far, I'm very pleased with this phone. Are you? I got the blank one. The only thing that bothers me is that it gets noticeably hot after only 10 minutes of talk.
