Has anyone tried Datapilot (.com) with the vx-7000?

I'm debating between two phones with two different carriers. nokia 6230 - cingular and lg vx-7000 verizon. The nokia has a ton more features but if the vx-7000 could sync up with my calendar on outlook I'd be much more inclined to go with the LG over the nokia.

A verizon rep told me I could check www.datapilot.com for the cable+software suite. It would be nice to transfer pictures, video, contacts, calendar this easily. It looks promising, but

1. Has anyone tried it and if so does it really work as well as it advertises?

2. How does the vx-7000 notify you when you have an appointment scheduled in your calendar?

I'm interested as well. Does anyone know for sure that the cable will work with the newer black versions of the vx7000? All information is appreciated.

I had tried that before, but I returned it to the store, reasons: 1. most features do not support as advertised. 2. rip-off pricing.

My friend introduce me another better product called Handset Manager, more great features with reasonable price (1/3 price of datapilot's), also offering software free upgrade! If I were you, I would buy Handset manager, not datapilot. Handset manager comes with more features and reasonable price. (USD 30 only, software and hardware all included in the package!)

I went to the mobilaction website. Their software seems like anyone can download it. Do you buy the software and cable there? I couldnt find a page that allows you to buy anything.

yeah, everyone can download it, but the software ONLY works with mobile action's hardware though. I tried it with an aftermarket data cable, it did not work with the software at all.

There are many web site you can buy the software and hardware, for example:

www.starpcsonline.com
www.1888express.com
www.cellcables.com
www.mobilecityonline.com
http://store.accessorygeeks.com »

http://www9.shopping.com/xDN-Cellular_Accessories-Ha ... »

So many people are selling mobile action products.

Also, if you are in New York, you can buy Mobile Action data tools in verizon and cingular stores. Because I had seen many stores are selling mobile action data tools in new york. 🙂

I have verizon's kit and also datapilot's, the verizon one costs me US$ 40 with only phonebook function and internet dial.
datapilot's cost me over us$60 with less feature too.

I would go for the handset manager from Mobile Action tech. reasons:

1. better price, US$ 29.99
2. more features, phonebook, calendar sync, picture edit, melody edit and compose, file manager for java game and mp3....
3. software free to update...

just my personal experience to share with you after using these products.

thank you. 🙂

verizon's can be bought for $26 from their business site, i would post the link but its on my other pc.... but I hear what you are saying about more features - tell me about the java game thing - this phone uses brew - are you saying you can put games on this phone without using gin?

I use the "file manager" feature to transfer games, pictures, and ringers. I download some new JAVA games from the net, then transfering an original game to my PC (save it, just in case you know), also I transfer the new java game that I get from the net to my phone, just by using that feature. It is very easy to use, just click then it transfer itself.

You never addressed my question as to why a java game would work on a brew phone?

Hi V710nyc, I am just a normal consumer like everyone else. I do not understand if a java game would work on a brew phone, perhaps you can teach us about this, you are welcome sharing your knowledge with us. Thank you.

All Verizon phones are Brew, not Java. And they make it virtually impossible to transfer games because they want people to buy them through "Get It Now." So I was surprised when you said that you downloaded java games and were able to transfer them to the vx7000 using the mobile action product. I just wanted to confirm that you were actually succesful in doing this.

sounds like you work for Verizon because you know everything in detail, unlike me as a normal user.
I have a Nokia 6230 and also a VX7000. One is from Cingular and one is from verizon. Maybe you are right? But all I know is the file manager icon allows me to transfer/exchange games between my PC and phone though. As for which model, I need to re-check it.

Please advise if your VX7000 is black or blue and if it is from Verizon. I am interested in Handset Manager but want to make sure it works on my black VX7000 from Verizon. Thanks!

I have the black VX7000 and I bought Mobile Action based on recs from this site. I am very displeased with Mobile Action software if you read my other posts. In my opinion (of course Gary will disagree) a cable on ebay with bitpim is the way to go.

my 7000 is the first editon. But I have a friend who has the new VX7000 edition, and she called this manufacturer, they told my friend that they have a new cable for the new LG vx7000, because the connector for these 2 VX7000 is different. The new cable also comes with charging function, but the one (the first cable edition) does not have the charging function.

I tried to purchase the handset manager from the accessorygeeks.com site and they told me that there is no handset manager product that works for the vx7000.

I asked them to double check if the product (MA-8022) that works on the vx6000 might also work on the vx7000. The rep told me point blank that she wishes it did because she is missing out on a lot of sales because they don't have anything that fits the vx7000.

Has anyone else had this problem? I tried to do a quick internet search and couldn't find any site that specifically said they had handset manager for vx7000. I finally gave up and found a good deal for datapilot ($39.95) from cellularaccessory.com when I followed the link from this site.

Handset manager does support LG VX7000, and the price is only US$29.99.
My friend bought datapilot for her VX7000, the price was 59.99,and the calendar sync function does not work at all, when she called datapilot, they could not provide any solution. Now she felt she got rip-off! But from what I feel, the cellularaccessory is killing the product and market? Hope Susteen does not know it though. 🙂

If you can not find handset manager, here is a web site that I just found, link for your reference:

I just got it from just mobile for 24.99 plus tax and shipping. The cd didnt support the 7000, you had to download it and the instructions on the website or lack thereof were pretty bad. It took me a long time to get it working. File manager is good but it won't let me transfer ringtones over 140kb. The 30 sec walmart samples are 235kb so this sucks. Also the phonebook tries to synch with my default email list that outlook automatically creates of everyones email, not my contacts. Bitpim works fine with the cable and I was able to transfer my 235kb ringtone. Maybe I'm not that familiar with the software yet but I dont necessarily think this is worth the $20 over an ebay cable used with free bitpim. I am seriously suspicious that peop...

First of all, no one is promoting this product for anyone. We are here just sharing experience with each others.
From your post I agree that you do not know much about software stuff. I totally agree with you.
I work for a software company, maybe that's why I think the software is really nice, because you have no idea how much people have to spend and invest to write a software. Not your fault at all.
Also, software will not update itself unless it is a live thing, then that will be very scary. New phones are released every day, of course you might not be able find VX7000 from the CD because you might get an older version CD. But put it in another way, this company offer software free download, once day if you are sick of your VX7000, a...

Yeah, but the bottom line is that this product does done of the important things claimed in the original post. It can't transfer games to the LG VX7000. I dont care about your other phone - this is the VX7000 forum so if you say it can transfer games in this forum you are saying it can transfer games to the vx7000 which is untrue. Plus it does not synch correctly with Outlook Contact folder, a basic function. I am a computer programmer so dont try and insult me just because you are trying to push a product which I actually tried and think is so so. In my opionion, QPST and Bitpim, which are free, blow this software away. Mobile Action works but nothing special.

Verizon's Mobile Office Kit can be bought for $26. If anyone wants pos...
