TEXT messaging problems!!!

Has anyone experienced any problems sending text messages with the VX-7000. I purchased this phone for my girlfriend and she is having problems sending TEXT messages to non-verizon phones.

Anytime she tries to send a message to a non-verizon phone the person doesn't get the message for a long time... usually hours later and sometimes the next day!!! Also, these messages never say "delivered" for the message status, but would say something like delivery unsuccessful.

She had the phone software upgraded to the "08" version, and nothing changed. Today we exchanged the phone for another VX-7000 and she still has the same problem. This really sucks because we both TEXT a lot to all our friends and each other.

She did change service pr...

I have also had messaging problems. I would send my girlfriend a message and she sometimes does not get it at all (she has a VX7000 also). Other times, all she will get is a couple boxes with Xs inside of them. At other times, sentences are cut off and those boxes replace half of the text that she sends. The same thing happens when she sends messages to me from her phone.

When I called today, the rep spoke with tech support since he is having the same issue with his 7000. He said to go to the Verizon store and have them do a flash update. If that doesn't work, he told me they would replace my phone(s). Other than that, it looks like it's not just isolated to a few people, so if enough people bring it up, Verizon will probably figur...

I'm having the same problem. Sometimes my text messages get to the other party but most of the time they don't. Wether it gets there or not it always says delivery unsuccessful. Verizon has not been able to help. They even gave me a new phone and no luck with that either. I text message allot and this is a problem and very frustrating. I thought I was the only one having this problem. Now that I know differently, I hope verizon is trying to do something about it.

What state are you in? I'm in Washington state and have not had time to go into a Verizon store, but I am going in this weekend to get a flash software update. Did they try that with your phone? Maybe it is a regional/local issue? We need to make them aware that it is not isolated to a few people. I refuse to pay for text messaging if it doesn't work. I asked for a credit for a month and they gave it to me - it really gets frustrating when you go over your messaging plan because you make countless test attempts to find out if the service is even working.

I found the answer why TXT messaging wasn't working for me, but I posted it in another thread. I copied it below for you... I guess it...

I'm in Pennsylvania. I hope they fix this problem soon. I'm about to get in touch with them again. This has been going on for 2 months for me and I've about had it. My pic messaging worked the other day and in the last two days doesn't. I'll be getting in touch with them today again and I'll let you know what they tell me.

FYI: Updating the software will not fix the problem. I tried that and I also exchanged phones before I found out what the real problem was. Unfortunately you just have to wait till Verizon works out the bug(s) in their system.

I called Verizon yesterday and a text support person called me back and got it to work, but now it is having problems again. I will call again to see what else they can do. They need to fix this because I refuse to pay for messaging services if they don't work.

Well, I'm still having the same text messaging problems with my phone and I even went to the Verizon store to get a flash software update. It doesn't seem like this problem will go away soon, so I might decide to not use text messaging at all. Has anyone else been able to get a fix for this issue?

My text/pix messasaging stopped working about two days after upgrading to this phone. It started out that I just wasn't getting a few messages, but in the last couple of days I haven't been able to receive any.

I don't know if this is the same situation that you are having. But I contacted customer care and explained the situation. They did some Tier 1 troubleshooting (tried to send a test text message...etc). Then they transfered me to WDTS where they did the same troubleshooting with me (except they actually looked at the switch view to see if I had any unusual blocks on my account). Then they transfered me to a data group, who couldn't figure it out, but escalated it to their supervisor. That supervisor said that they were able to see ...

I had them troubleshoot for me as well and it turns out that I had the Callback# set to ON and they told me to turn it to OFF. It is in the options when you go into the messaging menu. This resolves the issue of having boxes replacing your text or graphics being replaced with those same boxes (with an X in the middle of it).

All of those text message problems can be solved by going to www.Dictomail.com and subscribing to their service. The phone you have service carrier you use none of that crap matters and your text incoming and outgoing will be sent without issue! If your not sure check out the free demo provided at the website and see just what kind of extensive services they offer.

i've used VZW, T-mobile, and Cingular. I can tell you VZW is the worst. What you're experiencing is not because of the phone but the VZW messaging system. It sucks! Not only that, they charge a lot for international txt messaging. For T-mobile and Cingular, text messaging rates are the same irregardless if it's international or local. Don't know why VZW would charge more for international. It's just a freaking txt message not a DHL mail!!!

I live PA and I have never had a text msging problem, and trust me, I do a lot of texting to Verizon customers and ATT. The pix messaging there was a problem with when you send to another carrier, but now you can send to Cingular.
