Only VZW would release a phone as outdated as this... no color screen, no EV-DO.... I dont even want to bother going even further.

Form follows function...

It seems to me that this phone has a lot of advantages for someone that needs a phone for phone calls and PTT rather than as a fashion accessory/television/MP3 player/IM terminal. Trying to pack so much extraneous functionality in a handset may explain the recent rash of crappy phones from VZW (Can you hear me now VX6100, V710, KX-2?)

The rugggedized bar form factor allows one handed operation and eliminates the fragile hinge mechanism. The monochrome display can easily be read outdoors and uses less battery power than color. EVDO really means nothing for voice calls and would only add to the cost and possibly power consumption.

For those of us in the working force, I have to say, less bells and whistles please! I currently use the V60P and it has been suggested that we switch to newer models. My main concern with the T300p is, will it be rugged enough to handle the construction industry? You seem to have insight on the unit. Can it be drop kicked?
