I recently tested the A630 and according to the manual, our own tech guys, and the moto representative, the A630 is a quad band gsm phone, not tri band.

Yeah, I know, that makes it all that more desireable!

Also, Brighthand lists the weight at 100g. I didn't read the Moto press release. I wonder which is accurate.

Trust me, it's tri-band. All of the official info from Motorola says this, and I have confirmed it.

Like most tri-band phones these days, the circuits support quad-band, but the antenna does not. So, again like most tri-band phones these days, it will ship in two versions - one with a 850/1800/1900 antenna, and one with 900/1800/1900.

Odd, I am not saying you are wrong Rich odd that they would give us a quad band model and then release a tri band model. 😳

I was told that both versions will be available. The quad band would probably be available with Cingular/ATTW and the triband with T-Mobile/SunCom. I have noticed that most of the high end GSM phones usually go to Cingular or ATTW and not T-Mobile. For example, if T-Mobile customers want the V400, V600, P900, K700, etc., they'd have to purchase an unlocked model.

Did you get it from Cingular or did you purchase it elsewhere unlocked? I purchased my V600 directly from ATTW and it's locked. I used to have T-Mobile nad when I insert my ATTW SIM into those phones, it works with no problem. I do know that there are some retailers that sale GSM phones unlocked directly from the factory.

Cingular's come unlocked, AT&T's don't. Cingular is trying to look at the big picture and open the door for international roaming and nationwide roaming, thus ours are unlocked! 😁

I take it you work for Cingular. Yes, that's a great feature.

Yep, I've worked for them for 2 yrs now. 😁

I am looking forward to all the new phones coming out and I hope Cingular with go with winners.

The Moto WiFi one has my attention but I can just imagine the cost....hmmm rent or phone...tough choices! 😉

I have my eye on the Moto Wifi, as well. I'll be glad when the merger is complete. I look forward to some of the things Cingular has to offer. I need to stay out the store. I've bought too many phones this year (great news for the sales reps 😁 ) and I have my eye on some that I'm waiting to be released. 🙂
