I just got the Motoroloa A630 that was unlocked from eBay, and I got onto my Cingular account no prob, except I can't web browse. The phone was a former T-mobile phone, and it keeps trying to go to a T-Zone for the web....does anyone know how I can reconfigure the phone for Cingular mobile web?? When I call the customer support, they keep telling me thathe phone's software is programmed for T-mobile and that there is nothing they can do......Th ething is I thought I've heard of others getting theirs working.

Miller,

I have the exact same situation as you. I even went into a T-Mo corporate store and was told that Cingular/Motorola would have to flash the software and seem edit the phone to open the menu to change the media net settings. The only thinbg I can think of is sending it to Motorola.

The settings are teh same for everyphone, the only reason CIngular tells you they can't hep is because we don't yet have the manuals for the phoen to even put the settings in. If I had the phone in my hands for 5 minutes I could have it working on MEdia net no Prob. I just did it for my neighbors 3650 from Tmob, jsut popped my sim in and had it done. Just have to find the right CIngular Employee 😈

QuickeSilver -

Do I need your Sim Card?? Or can you post the steps to reprogramming the phone....if it has to be done by a Cingular in person....any sugestions where I can go? Being able to browse and use MEdia Net, was one of the main reason's I got this phone....and it really frustrating to have to spend $300 on it, sign a new conract with Cingular to get it working (previous phone was a TDMA phone), and then to find out that only the phone and messaging works. -Or do you recommend that I just keep on calling the Cingular tech support hoping I get the right tech??

The number I've been calling is:

You actually don't even need the cing sim, you just need to now wherer to put the correct settings. Post your email address and I will see if I can get you the settings you need, I don;t have the menu layout for that phone yet though so it may take me some time to get the correct entries for you.

The MMS and WAP settings on a T-Mobile A630 are locked. Even you unlock the phone with the subsidy unlock code, the WAP and MMS sessions are still locked so you can edit the existing ones or add new ones.

You have to get the phone flashed.

My husband got AT&T Mmode on my phone and I can do just about everything it just takes a few extra steps.
For example instead of just clickin on im like u can on tmobile I have to go to extras and then click on it and log in. I can text fine.

I don't no what flashing is, but pretty sure we didnt do that. My husband got a cable and some data software and copied the settings from his att phone and put them in mine.

Sure I would love it to work just like it does on Tmobile, but hey you can't have everything.

yes you can TEXT msg just fine. The SMS enter number is stored on your sim card, and has nothing to do with the locked "Sessions"

I know for a FACT that you can't surf the web, or send an MMS without flashing it.Those settings are locked and can't be unlocked without flashing it.

Fashing- Basically loading the firmware of a phone to another phone. There are many people that load V600 firmware onto a v300 phone. They don't get the bluetooth, but the get a different software that they like better.

when u say loading the firmware from one phone to another, would that be done with a cable? Cause thats what we did. I can surf the net and use AIM. I can check my email by going to the website that I normally go to when I am away from home. We used a motorola T721.

Yes you use a cable. Also I would like to hear from whoever actually "did" what you say he did.

I assume he used the files from the T721 and flashed it to the A630, but by doing that you have T721 firmware on your phone. Thus the bluetooth not functioning.

Not saying what you did can't be done, just curious to what he did,how he dd it, and if all you functions like bluetooth still work.

Fact of the matter is if you flash it with t721 firmware the bluetooth WILL NOT work. If it does connect to something and wor I would really like to hear what exactly he did, what software he used...etc...

Not saying it can't be done, jst never heard f what you are speaking of.

Thanks

He said he only used the websession from the t721. we haven't tried the bluetooth yet.

What he did was used the p2k software to see the files in his t721 and saved the websession from it and then used the cable to ad it to my a630.

Here is a GREAT website that tells how to "hack" the A630 to unlck the websessions, increase the gain of volume in the earpiece, change the outer and inner display. In stead of saying "T-Mobile" on te outisde, you can have it say "PIMP" or whatever.... same as the inside...

Also ever get tired of taking pictures and displaying them on your screen only to see that the t-mobile gets in the way. This website also tells you how to remove it so you can ee all your picture.

Good Luck
