I'm new to this please be patient with me if I do something that might be incorrect of seems dumb.

I installed phone tools verison 1.23 EN from the motoclub site. After extracting all files I installed the program and when it got to the end there was an error message that said:

Error No: 0X80040707
Description: DLL Function call crashed PBKINSTALL._GETBOOKSNAMES
setup will terminate

Any ideas what I can do?
Thank you,

Yeah, you're getting this error because of the version of Microsoft Office you're running. It's a very common problem. Here's the work around for it...

During the MPT 1.23 install when the Error message pops up,
1) Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up task manager.

2) End Task on the Application (This will prevent the setup routine from uninstalling the app and removing the registry settings).

3) Now install the 2.16 update, start Mobile Phone Tools and follow the instructions to install your phone. Once everything is installed, goto Setup and do the Live update to get the latest version

...if that doesn't work then uninstall Microsoft Office, install MPT, then reinstall Office.

My recommendation is to get the official update from BVRP.com:
http://www.bvrp.com/customers/motorola/upgrade/go.as ... »
They ask for some personal informatio; enter in whatever you want.
