V400 email settings

I've had no luck with the email settings. I've tried using settings for an actual pop3 email site (HotPOP.com) and any other settings I find that use cingular's photo.mycingular.com as send and receive host. Nothing has worked! I work for Cingular customer service, and I plan to research this, but training on specific phone features is rare. Any of you techies have the answer? Thanks in advance.

Here's the procedure I found today. I was also told that there is a data services outage in some areas which could also affect this, however, I have been able to download ringers and graphics without incident. Take it as you will. Steps 1 through 12 are to change the GPRS settings and the rest is to set up the phone to use Cingular as the email provider.

1. You go to messages

2. Then select email messages

3. Then select the menu button

4. Scroll down to email message set up

5. The first row should be ISP settings

6. Then hit change

7. The connection type should be GPRS (if CSD is already chosen just hit the right arrow button to change to GPRS)

8. The APN address = isp.cingular

9. User name = ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM

I'm having the same problem. 😳 I'm going to continue to look into this today. There may truly be a data services outage, as tech support said yesterday.

I did have some success sending an MMS to an email address last night. Try that in the meantime.

using the settings I provided earlier, I was able to send and receive email just fine. 😁 all I did was power cycle the phone after resetting the settings. I'm trying my personal POP3 account settings now to see if it will work. 😳

Make sure you have Wireless Internet express on your account and on cingulars website you have to register yourself in the "My Wireless Window."

I'm looking in to buying a phone through cingular and have narrowed it down to three and was hoping someone had some input on them. First there's the Samsung x427 (I'm a big fan of the small size). Then the Motorola v400 which I like b/c of the speakerphone and external caller ID (camera isnt really too important). Then I also like the Samsung P107, but it doesnt have the speakerphone. After rebates through Best Buy right now each phone is free except for $30 for the P107. I really like smaller phones thats why the x427 appeals to me so much, but external caller ID is also important and a speakerphone is always nice. If anyone has any info on any of these phones, or has a preference between the three it would be real helpful.

Yup, you should. Half the people in my company don't know all that and have to call me with those questions all the time. Our company could use you.

Just as an FYI...
HotPop is a real pain for the v400. Since the v400 is only able to receive a certain number of characters per message, a typical email can take almost an hour to receive and come in 6 separate emails. Plus, HotPop sends out little "tests" just to make sure it's working. So, at 2:30am my phone started going off and it was a HotPop email. That's when I pretty much decided to cancel my HotPop account. But, that's just my $0.02.....
