Increasing the # of rings before VM picks up?

Like the title says, how do I make it so my phone can ring more before my voice mail message starts? I just got my phone and I've missed a couple calls because before I can answer it in 2-3 rings, voice mail comes up.

IF you figure it out... please let me know. I am having the same issue. I also can not hear it ring in my purse. Is there any way to make the volume of the ringer louder? I have it on 7 (loud) and still can barely hear it. Thanks!

If you guys have Cingular as your provider, this is pretty simple (I increased mine to 60 seconds)... Here's the link that explains what you need to do...

Since a couple people may have additional questions regarding this, here are some more detailed directions to follow (use at your own risk):

1) First, you need to know what your voice mail number is (this is NOT your regular cell phone number). To find it, Go to Message > Menu Button > Voicemail Setup and you'll see your voicemail number (write it down).

An alternative way to find your voicemail number is to go to Settings > Call Forward > Forward Status > Voice Calls, the "Forward if Unavailable" number is your voice mail number.

2) Once you know your voicemail number, here's what you do:
Go back to the home screen.

Type *61*voicemailnumber**NUM# and hit send.

Replace "voicemailnumber" with your voicemail number (the number ...

Yes mysticfeline03, you are correct. But a lot of people like being able to change things on their own without having to go through their SP for everything. But it can be done either way.

An easier way to do this if you have Cingular is to call Customer Service and tell them you want your ring extended to 30 seconds. That's the max you can have. Call 611 from your phone or call 1-866-CINGULAR from a land line phone.

If you do it yourself, you can go beyond 30 seconds. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I have mine set to 60 seconds.
