I've got it installed/updated, but i don't think it recognizes my phone. I have a cable modem, a Terayon modem. So I don't want to select the 56K modem dialup one but Terayon isn't included in the list. My USB cord doesn't have the bump in it so it should work. Do I select COM 1 or COM 2? What is a COM anyway? Someone help me, I just want to be able to use what I paid for on my phone!

Actually you need to let it install the modem driver for your phone; that's what it uses to communicate with your phone and transfer data. That driver shouldn't mess with your cable internet. I've got Roadrunner myself and it caused no problems. You shouldn't then have to mess with choosing a COM port once you've let it detect the phone modem driver through USB. COM ports generally refer to serial ports on the back of your computer, but Windows also sometimes uses virtual COM ports assigned to other stuff too.
