Why doesn't Verizon carry Motorola?

Does anyone know why Verizon doesn't carry the newer Motorola phones?
I really like Verizon's service and have always used Motorola phones.
I have an older Motorola flip that I would like to upgrade.
I have no choice but to get an LG flip through Verizon, unless I'm willing to change carriers.
I'm hesitant on both points.
Any advice?

I just checked out the V710 Forum.
They talk about everything but the phones.
I posted a message anyway...let's see if I get a good reply.

I think one of the main reasons why Verizon doesn't carry newer Motorola phones is that Motorola is heavy on making phones that run on a GSM network which is the direct opposite of the CDMA network that Verizon runs. The GSM network is what carriers around the world use so it would make sense that Motorola would want to cater to a broader, international audience. This is just a thought by me. If someone knows other info please tell, just please don't be overly harsh like half the people do at the v710 forum.

Hope620, I was in the same dilemma as you when the v600 came out. Just tough it out because it's better to have a so-so phone in a good network then a top-of-the-line phone and losing half of your calls. Wait for the v710.

Just wanted to add another thought. Verizon is notorious for their stringent phone testing phase. I hear this is one reason the v810, which was supposed to be released back in March, may not even make it on the market because of the bugs that were found during testing. This is a good thing because then you'll know that most of the time you won't be wasting your money on something that sucks.
