Cingular's pulling these due to crashes...

Has anyone here had problems with the more recent 6230s crashing / locking up? Cingular isn't selling them anymore for now (see this thread:
https://www.phonescoop.com/carriers/forum.php?fm=m&f ... »
) because the newer phones are crashing - they have some kind of conflict with Cingular's service.

What I'd like to know from you all is:

1. When did you get your 6230?
2. Did you, or are you, having lock-up problems with it?
3. If so, did you find a fix?

Thanks a lot for your time!

Well, I got my Nokia 6230 on June 7 of this year. But, while my phone has never locked up, I can't get the text/multimedia messaging to work. I've called Cingular 10+ times about the problem, and they can't seem to help. Do you think that might be a software issue as well, or just a problem with Cingular? 😕

I've had mine since May.

Lately, I've been unable to use the call-forwarding charger stand Cingular sold me, due to some sort of difficulty. Either the signal is too low in my neighborhood, or the device has just quit functioning.

I complained about low signal at home, and they told me I needed to turn the phone off more often to pick up firmware updates. That didn't help, since I still see 1 bar or less sometimes. Amplifiers installed at work maintain about 3 bars. Wish they were cheaper.

One time I was told my SIM was unrecognized, but a reboot cleared that up.

Not annoyed yet, but getting there...

I get the 'unrecognized SIM card' error all the time, weekly at least. Reboot clears it everytime but it does get old.

I have had one of these 6230s for about a year. It is a fabulous phone! Occasionally it will crash when collecting email - but boots right back up. Bluetooth, email, camera...great quality...excellent, easy to use phone.

It's hard to find all these features in a small phone like this.

I read out on howardforums that the problems seem to be on Cingular branded phones. Can anyone confirm this? Anyone having these major problems on unlocked phones?

Got it in May from Amazon with Cingular contract.

First lock-up was two days ago, when nobody could call me.

Cycled power, got SIM error, removed and reinserted SIM, seems to work now. MAYBE turning it off once a day will help, but I imagine other people with troubles do that already...

Yes. I have had problems with my Nokia 6230. One of the things that would happen would be that I would take a video clip or audio recording and when I would end the recording process to review what I have taken, the phone would display the unknown format icon (a yellow square with a question mark). At that time, it would completely become unresponsive to my controls and reset. However it was not a reset to where it would turn off completely and turn back on. Instead, I would get the WOD (white screen of death) and after a few seconds the backlight would go out. Then the phone would return to normal, but the backlight would still be out. Only after another few seconds will it turn on by itself again. I had acted upon my warranty and received ...
