6230 Power Off Problem

BestWitted

I have had a new Nokia 6230 for about 6 weeks now. Several times (about 6 or 7) I have noticed that my phone is powered off when I wake up in the morning. At first, I thought that I inadvertently turned it off. Nope! Plenty of juice in the battery too. Has anyone else experienced this problem and resolved it? Could it be software as well as a hardware failure? Thanks, Dave

I would return the phone now! I've had the phone since March of 2005 and first it would tell me that my SIM card was rejected or failed to register. Then it would power down and power back on when I touched the buttons. Several times the screen has gone totally blank and the phone locked up. Most recently the phone stopped vibrating and I was not receiving any caller ID. I called Cingular and they are sending me a new phone even though I do not have insurance because the guy told me that they have recalled this phone. Cute phone but it has been one problem after another!

My phone does the exact same thing as 'theexception' above. I've now had it for almost a year - the problem seems to come and go and sometimes it's much worse than others.

It's actually a nice feature - a couple times it's come in handy when I didn't feel like getting stuck in one 'of those' long calls with my girlfriend. 'Gee honey, the phone just died again!' ;D

Cingular has stopped offering this phone and Nokia is working on a fix.
