Well, thanks to a clumsy waiter a Chili's I'm my 9900 to an unexected swim in ice tea. Verizon is sold out of 9900's here, so I'mback to my Audiovox 9500. It's only been 5 days and I miss the heck out of my 9900.

I dont guess any of you are shopping for phones now, but unfortunately I am. Whhat in the world does a 9900 fan buy now.

Have we heard anything on a new phone from UT Comm (the folks that bought Audivox's phone line, i think that's the right name)?

You might want to check out the 8940. It should be out in February. It will cost more than the 9900 due to EVDO. It appears to be a good phone and comes in either the black or silver finish although I don't think it is made by Tohsiba like the 9900 is. The LG-8000 will be out about the same time and is a good substitute, but high priced too.

As for replacing your phone, Verizon may be able to replace it under warranty since they do have some 9900s held back for warranty replacement. If yours was submerged, they may not cover it unless you have the insurance. Check the battery connectors and make sure they are clean and not discolered and let it sit for about a week with NO batery in it to dry out. Most of the time they will start w...

Thanks for the information on the phones. I'll do some searching on those models.

Insurance will not cover the replacement, but Chili's will. I've had it drying out since Sunday and it's still zonked. It'not like the phone was fully submerged, it's kinda har to believe it took on that much water. Must have just hit the right spot.

Thanks again.....

If you can not locate a 9900 through the Verizon stores or online using various zip codes, the best bet is to try to find it at a store that carries Verizon phones, like Circuit City. If you go in and talk to the manager of the cell phone department, they can do a computer search of ALL the stores in your state and have one transfered in if they find one.

I got my phone that way and worked out fine. Check anyone that carries Verizon, Best Buy or whoever you can find. Radio Shack I don't think ever carried the 9900 but it doesn't hurt to ask. They may have in your state.

Good luck! 🙂

Circuit City was useless here. The employees there are actually Verizon employees. Verizon is just running a retail store from within Circuit City.

The tech at Verizon told me that they could order a replacement for warranty or repair from somewhere? This may be the hold back that others have refered to for phone problems.
