So I guess they are telling us they will not do anything to fix this problem. What a great service!

Hello ####,

Thank you for contacting the Verizon Wireless website. We are sorry to
learn that you are having difficulty with your Get It Now service. We
are happy to assist you with your question.

We apologize for the inconvenience. We are aware of an issue with the
Mobile IM application not appearing in your application list. Please be
aware that you are not billed for this application if you do not use
it.

Some of our customers have been able to power their phone off and then
on and then were able to view and remove the application. We apologize
for the inconvenience.

If you have further questions or conce...

They ARE working on it. I didn't email them, but instead called the data technician line that deals with their data services (i.e. mobile web, Get It Now, etc.,) They set me up with a trouble ticket and were very consistent in calling me every afternoon to let me know what the status was until they were able to tell me that the there will be a software upgrade available at the end of this month - early December. Once that's in, you can take in your 9900 and have it flashed. I called Audiovox to confirm this, and they said they are working on it as well, and once Verizon approves it, it will have it available for customers.

Thanks for this info., bleu_tropix.

Do you happen to know what flashing will do to existing personal settings/pictures/tones? Will they all be wiped out?

That's a good question. I'll have to ask them about that one...but it'll have to be a little later...since I just got off the phone with two different CS reps who (for the first time, in my experience) gave me a hard time...maybe it was cos I was calling about my bill 😉 I think I can see where their inconsistency comes into play with the answers they give customers...

But yea, when I find out, I'll let you know. If you happen to find out before I do, please post what you have. Thanks!

☚ī¸ Any word on the fix to the "unable to remove Mobile IM" problem on the CDM9900?

- It is well past early December . . .

- The phone has been discontinued, and only a few units remain for sale.

- I just went through a lengthy technical support exercise on this problem with a new 9900. The online data support people and my local authorized Verizon service center could not fix this problem.

Mobile IM takes up considerable memory space, and I would like that available for other programs.

Is Verizon still working on this? Any word from anyone?

Thanks.

Audiovox is working on it, but no word on as to when it will be given to VZW for approval and then to the consumer as a software upgrade. My MobileIM was not only taking up space, but was generating a considerable amount of text messages to and from my cell (even though I logged out each time from the IM app and didn't even send/receive texts).

After a long visit at the store, taking a rather silly run-around by the same tech, they finally came up with "we're working on it, and the upgrade will be available late Nov to early Dec..." so I say, ok fine, I'll deal with it and completely block my text/pix msging until then. I wait 3 weeks, and still no word from them...so by now I'm needing my text/pix msg features and call them about it. Th...

Bleu Tropix,
Thanks for the additional information. I'll watch for unwanted message activity.

I worked vigorously with my local Verizon Service Center on this problem. They called Audiovox, other service centers, etc. but could not come up with a fix. They also tried to locate a new phone replacement for me (since I was still under a 15-day evaluation period), but were unable to find one. (This phone really is discontinued!)

In the end I agreed to "live" with the software on my phone, and they generously gave me a credit on my account as a "compensation." I'm reasonably happy with the outcome, but I'm still looking for a solution.

I have a number of Get It Now applications that I want on my phone, but there will not...

Have you searched HowardForums to see if there was a solution?

Some were able to get it removed by going to the manage apps section and then powering off the phone...after a few seconds powering on again gave them the option of removing the mobileIM app. Unfortunately, that was only for a lucky FEW, and not me.

Howard Forums is a great resource, and I have looked there extensively. The problem is acknowledged there, but other than powering down and back on, there are no real solutions. (That solution didn't work for me and many others.)

My local Verizon Service Center says when a software update is issued they can clear the phone memory and reload the new software. They don't currently have any software for the phone.

I guess the other option would be to send it back to Audiovox for a warranty reload of all software. Anyone considered this?

This subject has been explored extensively in this Forum. But to cover it again one last time, currently there is NO fix for removing it. Audiovox is working on a software upgrade to the phone that WILL fix it. 🙂

There is no stated time yet as to when it will be released by Verizon so less not have a dozen more posts asking when it will come out! ☚ī¸

Just call your local Verizon store every couple of weeks and see if they have it is the best thing to do. When the first person has it done to their phone, I'm sure you will read about it in this Forum! 😁

With all the bad coverage of Mobile IM, I can't figure why anyone loads it on their phone in the first place? 😕

As for the warranty covering the removal, sorry, the w...

Thanks. I am not one of these users; what should I do?

I just got this phone and downloaded the mobile IM App. I didn't realize they charge you for each msg as a text msg, so I no longer want this on my phone. It is taking up memory. I also have spent an hour trying to delete this without success. Anyone figured it out?? Also, since I don't have much on the phone, is there a way to clear all of the memory? Thanks.

Nope, you can't take the IM app off your phone. They said some have been successful in getting to the app page and then shutting off the phone on the page then powering on again and then the option was available to remove the app. But it didn't work for me ☚ī¸ only works for some I guess. They're currently "working" on this issue with Audiovox and once that goes thru then you can have it flashed at a VZW store to remove it. I was told that they would have it by now or the beginning of December...but that turned out to be a load of crap according to my new communications with them đŸ‘ŋ so who knows?
