from VZW Employee on HoFo...

"The 9900 will launch on September 7th [2004]. It will be $229.99 with 2-year [agreement and a] $70.00 rebate. $419.99 full retail."

The $229.99 is BEFORE the rebate... after rebate, $159.99.

Not that I am upset with this news, but, we have heard it all before. Please, what is your source, can it be relied upon? Thanks.

...and no offense, but did you read the entire message? The source is clearly listed. VZW Employee on HoFo (though I wouldn't expect you to know what HoFo is... it's HowardForums.com).

He's about as trustworthy as anybody else on an internet forum, having been about 80-90% accurate on information pertaining to most new VZW phone releases. He went so far as to take pictures of the dummy phone from his store and post them on HowardForums.

If one adds up all of the information: dummy phone shipped, concrete release date and pricing information, and e-mails fro...

Thanks,

For what it is worth. I spoke to a vzn tech guy this weekend. He admitted to being one of the original testers of the 9900. He said the only pblm w/ the phone was that it had antennae reception pblms and dropped calls. He did say that sometimes companies can re-tool the phone w/ software etc to fix it. However, he really wasn't keen of vzn accepting the phone. He does admit that anything is possible though.

Personally, I hope it does come out. The 710 is ok, but I don't want bluetooth at all and really don't want to pay for something I will never use.

Most people who work for VZW would not have the balls to post on an open forum like this. They would just plain old lose their jobs for letting out so called "propriety of information" the company really does take it seriously. If the employee had the nerve to post prices and a dates, then that is the VZW's plan. No info is given to employees until the last minute, they might tell somebody!

the original price quoted for this phone seemed high given its closest competitor the V710 with BT. Then again with $100 towards the new phone along with the rebate it would be a good deal.

I want to know why this phone is nowhere to be seen on the Audiovox website.

Probably nowhere on the site because it's not out yet? Just a guess...

If it helps, the accessories are all over the site... just do a site search for "9900" and you'll see about 7 or 8 accessories including the extended battery, data kit, etc.
