I E-Mailed Audiovox over the weekend to see if
they had any updates on the CDM9900.
This is what they said:

"The CDM9900 is still in the approval process and we are waiting for Verizon to approve the phone. If the phone is going to be approved it will be by the end of August. You can check back with us in about two weeks to see if we got the approval."

So if I don't hear anything, I'll contact them
the first part of September to see if it
passed the approval.

wow, that's so much more helpful than the motorola e-mails... whenever anybody e-mailed about the 710, they just gave a vague, canned response.

i was looking at getting the 710, but i may just wait if approval is around the corner...

Remember Guys, This phone was supposed to have been released in the March-April time frame. I won't believe anything after all these months, until I see it in the Verizon Stores and hold it in my hands.

That is very helpful information! It is kind of a good news-bad news situation. The good news is that we should know something in two weeks according to the response you received. The bad news is that when I e-mailed Audiovox...

My wife and I are way over due for a new phone. She is on my back about getting one now. I trying to tell her to be patient. I wanted to get the v710 but the retail after rebate (x2) is a little out of our price range. Has anyone heard what the retail on the 9900 might be?

Over in Howardforums, the VZWEmployee has stated that his store now shows that they are going to be getting the accessoires for the phone. This is a good sign it is going to come out.

If you are concerned, then just get the 710. It has all the same features and will be supported. It is also smaller and lighter and has a very nice menu. Reception and voice quality is is very good, which is the main reason to have a cell phone anyway.

The 9900 is anyones guess that it will even come out or be offered by Verizon. And if it is, don't count on it anytime soon.

And it seems the emphasis of reviews of phones puts both these critical things on the back burner to secondary things (IMHO) like style, size, quality of pictures, etc. etc.

Even Verizon can not tell people which tri-mode phones have the best reception. Doing this in my area should be easy for them: a Verizon store is 4 1/2 miles from a fringe then dead zone. The Verizon people know *exactly* where this is, as in landmarks, not just the road name. They could easily send an employee out with one of each tri-mode phone and test them out. Instead, they waste money having people...

So, what are you saying? That new people have no right to bring up issues other people, on this board a long time, already know?

I view your posting as a put-down.

Want to provide links for some of those "months ago" postings? I didn't see any discussion looking around before my posting. Also, your "months ago" is garbage--more like "one" month ago shy of two days that Audiovox's plans to sell the cellular division became public.

Look Mr. Lotuki, If you want to be easily offended and overly sensitive and spring loaded to jump on someone or something, that's your choice to react "your way". I really don't care how long phone scoop keeps a backlog of this forum. I just commented your information is the same as we have heard since March of 2004. So get a grip and sit back to get a feel of Phone Scoop before you indulge in these tirades. I'm surprised you haven't locked horns with Phonepimp. He really is ultimate test of how much insulation a person has. I'm nothing compared to him. Now get a life. 🤣 🤣
