Dear ****,

Thank you for your email.

The CDM9900 is still in the late stages of approval. We are waiting for
approval from Verizon. We are hoping to release this phone in June depending on
approval.

Please let us know if we can be o...

By the way, that is exactly how a Audiovox email is set up, so if someone posts another email, and it is not set up like that, it is fake.

I'm a big fan of Motorola phones and have my eyes on the v710. I've found their overall quality, durability, and performance to be wonderful.

As Audiovox fans, what makes the CDM models more attractive than the Motorolas? (removing price from the equation)

I've never owned an Audiovox phone, so I'd be curious about your answers.

My major feature wants are:

- speakerphone
- camera
- PC/Mac connection to transfer pictures
- AMPS/analog fallback
- durability of phone

I currently have a Motorola 270c as my standard, and it has been rock-solid for me, but I do want to add camera capability (hence the 9900 or 710).

Thanks for any feedback.

Scott

If you are only a motorola man than I'm not sure I can help you. Why is it that you don't want a camera phone. The v710 will most likely be VZW best phone to date -for a long time. I too was interested in the 9900, but decided that unless the quality is 400 times better than there last 2 phones:8600 and the 8900, that I will wait. the 9900 does have a lot of great features, but so does the 710. OK so you dont want a camera phone, why don't you look into a few of the new samsungs like the a650. Samsung makes a SOLID phone. And LG makes a solid phone too. it depends on what features you're looking for. If you really dont want a camera phone, but would like a color display, and a speakerphone than I think your choice may be the LGVX 32...

Please reread my message. I never said I did _not_ want a camera as part of the phone. Part of my phone wants _include_ a camera. My only reference to no camera was when I simply said my present phone, the rock-solid Motorola 270c, has no camera.

If you need bluetooth, and an expansion card slot, or just want the best phone VZW will carry, V710. But if you want a phone is can take pictures, 15 second video clips, and has good resolution with a high bit color screen, go with the 9900.

My bad scott, I read the last line of your post wrong...I thought it said "I don't want to add camera. Well even still, as its been stated, v710 will be VZW's best phone. Sportyross is right and forget about the bluetooth- its gonna be the most solid phone. Some say the sprint version of the 9900 is good, and I was originally waiting for it too, but forget it. The 8600 was a piece of sh*^, and the 8900 needs quite a bit of work so like I said...unless the 9900 is 400X better than its previous phones I'll put audiovox on hold for a while. If samsung puts out a new tri-mode camera it's something to think about, but until then v710 is the only way to go.

The 8900 was made for Audiovox by Hyundai. The 9900 was made by Toshiba. That's why Sprint sells the phone as the Toshiba 4050.

I trust Toshiba to make a much better product, and I held the phone in my hands.

At this point, for a lot of us, it's between the 9900 and the v710. We'll have to see what comes out when, and at what price point.

And, I might add the Audiovox CDM-9900/9950 is the follow on decendant of the Audiovox CDM-9500. The Audiovox CDM-9600 got canceled. all of of which were/are manufactured by Toshiba. Also, I read all the 144+ opinions on the Audiovox CDM-9500 and responded myself as I have carried this phone 2 years. I believe Toshiba makes a good phone, and I look forward to the CDM-9900. Why screw around trying to unlock the Sprint version of this critter? You only open yourself up for disappointment! The only bad thing I have to say about TOSHIBA is, during the cold war they were explicitly told not to sell the Soviet Union the machineing/milling equipment to quiet Soviet Submarine propeller shafts, and Toshiba did it anyway. It took us years and millions...

the 8900 and 8600 and all further 8000 series phones are actually made by Curitel. they are buying out audiovoxes mobile phone division and took over Hyundai phone spot with adiovox. but yes the 8000 series of phones that audiovox sells do not compare to the toshiba built phones like the 9500 and others. these "audiovoxes"(toshiba) will be very good phones!!!

no disrespect intended as i know some people in thes forums get offended really easily.
just putting in my 2 cents.
